The operating budget of the catholic church, in the US alone, is greater than the operating budget of Apple or General Motors, worldwide!

http://www.bibliotecapleyades.net...

Quote from above link:

"Roman Catholicism, which claims to be His church, is the richest of the rich, the wealthiest institution on earth. How come, that such an institution, ruling in the name of this same itinerant preacher, whose want was such that he had not even a pillow upon which to rest his head, is now so top-heavy with riches that she can rival - indeed, that she can put to shame - the combined might of the most redoubtable financial trusts, of the most potent industrial super-giants, and of the most prosperous global corporation of the world?"

From where did the church's wealth come? Here's some insight...

http://www.historylearningsite.co.uk...

Not to mention slave labor for profit from things like the Magdalene Laundries:

http://en.wikipedia.org...
http://www.huffingtonpost.com...

These and many other atrocities (like the lands and wealth confiscated by the church during the Inquisitions) have made the catholic church among the wealthiest CORPORATIONS, in the world. But what about other, "real" christian churches?

Mormons:

http://www.businessweek.com...
http://investigations.nbcnews.com...

Now throw in the baptist church, church of christ, episcopalian, adventists, and countless "megachurches," and the televangelists... You're talking about a multi-hundred-billion dollar a year INDUSTRY. Now every (theist) one and their brother is quick to rush in, and put this "in context," stating that those aren't REAL christians... But think about it, honestly: What kind of vehicle does the local priest/pastor/minister/deacon drive? What kind of clothes to they wear? Since churches are exempt from even REPORTING what they collect, how many of them are actually HONEST about it? Make no mistake about it: the church MAKES MONEY. The vast majority of church contributors are those that have so very little that their contribution would be FAR better used to care for the families of those that give the most... Much like the American "middle class," who bears the brunt of tax collection in the US, the poor make up the majority of church attendees. People can talk about the "humanitarian" efforts of churches, all they want. The church is happier spending more on their stained glass and hand-carved ornamentation than ANY effort "helping the poor."

Church has never been, is not now, and will never be anything other than a glorified business. Period. Get out, now, while you still have time to do some living...

So the church is getting as close to financially bankrupt as they have always been morally bankrupt? Sounds like more indulgences need to be sold...

And you know, if it was presented to them right, there would be a line to by indulgences. Isn't that what it is anyway? Give money every Sunday to be a good Christian?

Pretty much. At any rate, the church needs it's stained glass and ornate statues. As you might know, god can't work miracles in a "functional" building... C'moooooonnnnn! This is "god's house" of which we speak, here. It can be nothing less than breathtakingly spectacular.

How about the 26 million dollar, 6 dome fitness center equipped with all the bells and whistles, including a nightclub. Yes, it exists an hour and a half drive from my house. Can you guess where I live? The buckle of the bible belt. It is disturbing.

The state that I've heard called the "buckle" most often is Texas... Where is this place you're talking about?

Sounds like the troll is back at it.

Apparently, when churches engage in economic activity, which requires money, its bad. I mean what do the Mormons do with money? Why they build Temples, meeting houses, pay the bills to run those things (like ... agh electricity), they advertise, the create emergency stores, they run thrift stores for the poor, they have these things called 'Bishop's Store Houses' that offer free food to the needy, the offer counseling services (porn addiction, drinking problems) all free to anyone who wishes them, create scholarships for needy students, build universities to educate students, etc. etc. etc.

Same thing with just about any church out there.

But that takes money, and viciously abusive trolls out to get smear in only see money and start screaming 'GREED' while pointedly failing to see what is delivered for the money.

In the mean times, EVERY other charitable organization conducts find raising because modern economics is a necessity, but extremist troll atheists just want to apply a double standard. As usual.

Please note that the abusive troll, embarrassing as his antics are, does not have the power to declare who does and does not respond to his naked pot shot and utter defiance of simple economics.
