Problem of Induction: http://en.wikipedia.org...

Science is pragmatism, useful consistencies. There is no truth in it, not for you. And you are full up of religion for this fact. I think of it as if watching a certain TV channel. Basing everything you know, by the ways, on this certain TV channel, insisting that this TV channel is all that is - having faith in this TV channel, if you will - but all of a sudden that TV channel might change, something else might flick it on to the next channel, and then what? This is the problem of induction, only rejigged because I like the whole TV bit (lol), how it seems to really hit home with life merely being a picture beneath it all. And this is where religion comes from - to impose order upon that picture. And this is why to be loved is such a marvelous thing, because it is to fill that picture up with care for you. In fact, pretty much the entirety of our psychology is taming the picture. This actually gets quite ridiculous. Music, art, fashion, etc. - there is such an autisitic progression through these things that one would feel hopeless for humanity looking at it. But that's what it is. And it is always, at base, just a picture. Religion isn't going anywhere. The real game is putting people at ease by it.

For the supposed champions of reason, why don't you try re-adopting that perspective we're all born into? Of sheer infiniteness. And this is where the so-common Christian conservative comes from, of course - one small step on from pure solipsism, his religion to hold the world on this certain TV channel.

There are fools on this board, it's true.

An autistic progression? What does that mean?

An autistic progression? What does that mean?

It's kind of hard to explain. A good starting place might be the idea of gateway drugs, though, which is an idea with considerable merit. It's all these very subtle 'next steps', each made in a bid to tame the entire world. Foods is another place it's obvious - a person's progression through what they'll eat, also often very autistically (for want of a better word) controlled. Sounds. Porn. It's obvious in cartoons with children, how comfort comes to be taken in certain sorts of animation, but there's a knee-jerk away from others. And so on until finally we come to the purpose behind it all. Really there's something of the autistic in it, who takes his reality in very ordered bites. And we're all like that, because we must all grow accustomed to each thing individually. Or, it is necessary that we categorise or weigh everything. And it never ever leaves us. Joyce, for example, made a masterpiece of rejigging punctuation; Picasso, cubism. These things were gimmicks. And it almost makes a mockery of us that they are art for this gimmickry. But as Neil Armstrong said, "One small step for man, one giant leap for mankind". Heck, it's all we have ....But the point is: it's all a mad feast for the senses. That's all it is, at base. I actually got a great quote about it from an actual autistic: "Sanity is a spiderweb over a web of crazy. Don't let them damage it! Don't let them take your integrity!" Time to step into the real world. It's easy to preach atheism when you have it yourself. Cherish it - it's a gift but for that you're probably a dumb selfish cunt with it. But when religion is the thing that has made your whole world for you ... When it's by religion that you've sculpted actual people out of this strange otherness ... Then it's a different story altogether. There is only one appeal when dealing with people: goodness.

What a fool is the atheist sitting upon his little spiderweb, who would think but to shout criticisms of his brother, as if some champion of reason. How precariously placed he is. We dare the flood these days, with our motorboats and scuba gear, lol. Never before has man been so afforded resentment.

But it's with reason he thinks he is. No; untrue. What are you but eyes and a few shallow thoughts rolling around in a dark place?

Your recent posts have been very good. Of a higher quality.

Are you the same AnDoctuir who used to be a militant atheist? Or is this someone else posting under your name? Perhaps you are playing devils advocate?

What gives?

I wasn't ever a militant atheist. I've been a manic nihilist and dissatisfied moralist, but never a militant atheist. I am, however, the same AnDoctuir you remember. More or less, anyhow. :)

Wow, what a change! Are you still a manic nihilist? And what were you dissatisfied about morally? If you feel more comfortable answering in PM feel free.
