For example, Mark 16:17-18 (ESV) says:

"17 And these signs will accompany those who believe: bin my name they will cast out demons; they will speak in new tongues; 18 they will pick up serpents with their hands; and if they drink any deadly[causing or able to cause death.] poison[a substance that is capable of causing the illness or death of a living organism when introduced or absorbed.], it will not hurt them"

Is this meant to be read literally? If a person of faith were to drink a deadly substance, such as VX, would that person live?

VX is the most toxic nerve agent ever synthesized for which activity has been independently confirmed. The median lethal dose (LD50) for humans is estimated to be about 10 milligrams through skin contact and the LCt50 for inhalation is estimated to be 30"50 mg"min/m3.

http://www.cfr.org...
http://www.fas.org...

If believers are protected from deadly poisons, they should be able to be exposed to deadly amounts of VX on a daily basis with out antidotes and still live a normal life.

Mark 16:17-18 (ESV) continued: "; they will lay their hands on the sick[affected by physical or mental illness.], and they will recover."

Illness is defined as: a disease or period of sickness affecting the body or mind.(https://www.google.com...)

Cancer is a disease. Scientific medicine/treatments and surgical procedures cure cancer. People aren't cured from cancer by someone touching them.

This is generally aimed at Christians, but any one can respond as long as they keep the discussion civil, decorous, and respectful.

No man should interpret the prophecies because none of God's people have any authority to do so. Only God's chosen saints have authority to use the prophecies to teach God's chosen believers or to use them to discredit the false teachings of the antichrists who call themselves Christians.

There are parts we need to take literal, but there are parts where the common sense of that time is needed. Metaphors are used to describe things today. If you'd like, I can explain what I mean with your bible verse.

All God's people will be deceived by reading the Bible and trying to interpret the prophecies. It's impossible to interpret them without possessing the knowledge of God that us saints were created as. You have to listen to us saints in order to learn what the prophecies mean.

Note the word for tongue has a meaning that means language. I can imagine the slang would go "he is speaking in strange tongues." In English, can mean "He is speaking in a strange language." So that is easy. Now comes the trickies.

I don't see where seprents can be literal since Jesus certainly didn't do this. I see this as picking up Satan's sinful temptations and acting like you have control over them. Now I believe in demons, but I can't say i'm educated on the topic. So I can't say anything on that. Now the poison verse will say "it will not harm them." That's tricky. I would like to say this only applies to the Apostles since one of them failed to die from being poisoned. But if it means all people, then maybe somebody who has enough will power can overcome the death from poisons in time. We are evolving creatures with systems capable of building immunities given the time and pressure.

I believe the gospel should be literal, because it's the cornerstone of the faith. I believe Moses should be literal because he wrote the 5 books (even if I think Geneses 1-11 is a parable). I believe the best way to tell how something should be read as literal or non-literal is based on it's context and applying hermeneutics.

Not sure. I can't say I knew the anatomy of that apostle.

I believe in original sin. But Adam and Eve don't have to be the first humans for it. Romans 5:12 said that when MAN committed the first sin, death entered the world on all mankind. It doesn't say animals couldn't die like humans. It doesn't say Adam had to be the only one. It says man committed a sin and that sin brought introducing death to mankind.

Yes, it is literal. The NT confirm that followers of Christ, especially His apostles, had miraculous powers.

That's why you don't understand any of the prophecies, Anna. None of them are to be interpreted literally. Only God can understand them but He uses us saints to testify to His knowledge so that when we read the prophecies, we can understand them from His perspective.

If believers are protected from deadly poisons, they should be able to be exposed to deadly amounts of VX on a daily basis with out antidotes and still live a normal life.

There are parts we need to take literal, but there are parts where the common sense of that time is needed. Metaphors are used to describe things today. If you'd like, I can explain what I mean with your bible verse.

Please do. I wish to know what the verse means if in fact it is supposed to be a metaphor.

What parts of the bible should be taken literal?

http://www.biblestudytools.com...

So if that Apostle was alive today, he potentially could survive a fatal amount of Ethyl ({2-[bis(propan-2-yl)amino]ethyl}sulfanyl)(methyl)phosphinate?

I believe the gospel should be literal, because it's the cornerstone of the faith. I believe Moses should be literal because he wrote the 5 books (even if I think Geneses 1-11 is a parable). I believe the best way to tell how something should be read as literal or non-literal is based on it's context and applying hermeneutics.

So if geneses 1-11 are parables, what is your opinion of original sin?

God told His people to listen to His voice and obey His commandments. If they would listen to His voice and obey His commandments like us saints are forced to do, He would teach you why sin was part of this world called the "tree of the knowledge of good and evil". The tree of the knowledge of good and evil keeps His people from knowing what the tree of life is.

Yes, it is literal. The NT confirm that followers of Christ, especially His apostles, had miraculous powers.

Since it is literal, a normal Christian should be able to jump into a pit full of Taipan snakes( for the sake of this discussion, let's assume the pit has all three species of Taipan snake, and all two subspecies of Oxyuranus scutellatus).

Would that average Christian be able to walk out of that pit, or would the average Christian be a stiff on the ground?

I didn't prophesy my death. God guided me to the prophecy of Revelation 11 in which I read and believed I would die after my testimony of 1260 days or 42 months or 1/2 of 7 years, which are three different calendar days. This was to let me know that God didn't want me to know the exact date I would be killed for testifying to my created existence as the Word of God, which happens to mean His knowledge where His creation exists.

You are lying. You stated you would be shot, with a time, and a place. That is a prophecy, based on your understanding of the scriptures.

You failed.

Stop embarassing yourself. Rather than posting -with surety- you could have just as easily stated what you think MIGHT could happen. You could have opined and even admitted that such a thing might not occur. But you didn't do that. You made a prophecy by claiming what will happen, when, and it didn't happen.

False. Prophet. Clearly, you are no better at interpreting the scriptures than those you accuse of not understanding: you yourself didn't even understand what was supposed to apply -directly- to you.

Also, if it is literal, believers should be able to bite down on a cyanide pill and continue to live a normal life since the poison will not hurt them. A cyanide pill is filled with concentrated solution[a liquid mixture in which the minor component (the solute) is uniformly distributed within the major component (the solvent).] of potassium cyanide. If believers are immune to "any deadly poison", they should put their faith to the test, just like how some believers handle snakes.

*I am not encouraging the use of cyanide pills or snake handling.

I'm still alive but I will be killed for testifying to the Word of God, which is my created existence and yours. I was never told by our Creator the exact date of when I will be killed but He did inform me in 2009 that I would be killed for testifying to His Word. He also let me know how and where, too.

So your failure at prophecy is a failure on God's part?

Stop embarassing yourself.

I'm not at all embarrassed but I sure was humiliated again by our Creator. He has a way of humiliating us saints that none of His people can understand.

VX is the most toxic nerve agent ever synthesized for which activity has been independently confirmed. The median lethal dose (LD50) for humans is estimated to be about 10 milligrams through skin contact and the LCt50 for inhalation is estimated to be 30"50 mg"min/m3.

All God's people will be deceived by reading the Bible and trying to interpret the prophecies. It's impossible to interpret them without possessing the knowledge of God that us saints were created as. You have to listen to us saints in order to learn what the prophecies mean.

Considering you prophecized your death, and were wrong, I have no reason to believe you. You have aptly demonstrated yourself as a false prophet.

I didn't prophesy my death. God guided me to the prophecy of Revelation 11 in which I read and believed I would die after my testimony of 1260 days or 42 months or 1/2 of 7 years, which are three different calendar days. What if you are wrong about how and where 'our' Creator will kill you?

Verses Mark 16:9-20 are fabrications they dont appear in the most ancient manuscripts... so its not part of the Gospel of Mark, but the problem is you stll have it in most bibles today and especially the Bible kjv..

You would think that if they were fabricated, Christians would have omitted the verses from scripture.

Was this passage meant to be taken literally? Yes, I believe it was. Should we take it literally knowing people die from snake bites, poison, and disease in spite of their faith? No. It is completely contrary to common sense.

Yes, it is literal. The NT confirm that followers of Christ, especially His apostles, had miraculous powers.

Assuming an Apostle were alive today, could the Apostle bite down on a cyanide pill and live? What would happen if the Apostle were thrown into pit filled with Taipans?

Since it is literal, a normal Christian should be able to jump into a pit full of Taipan snakes( for the sake of this discussion, let's assume the pit has all three species of Taipan snake, and all two subspecies of Oxyuranus scutellatus).

Why, a man would have to be a fool not to know that the book of I Cor details the end of the miraculous age which would come when the revelation of God was complete and final. Confirmation of the written/spoken word was the purpose of miracles in the first place.

Yes, it is literal. The NT confirm that followers of Christ, especially His apostles, had miraculous powers.

See above. A fella would have to be pretty dim-witted not to know that the miraculous age was prophesied to last 40 years. You act as if you think the Bible teaches that it just went on indefinitely. If that's not the purpose of your posts, then enlighten us.
