I believe that which we value, whether tangible or abstract, motivates us to action. We value that which we gravitate towards. It is this responsiveness that characterizes our lives.
The disconnect is made apparent as that which we say we value and that which defines who we are, are distinct from each other. Society looks for consistency in the individual's words and actions. It judges the individual as either sincere or untrustworthy based on this criterion. The goal of the individual should be to make congruent that which he, or she, says is in his, or her, heart and that which he, she, does. Notice, I said that which the individual says and not that which is actually in the heart of the individual; for, I believe regardless of that which the individual says, his, or her, actions are, merely, a reflection of that which is in his, or her, heart.
