If as the Mormons suggest "we should follow the example of Jesus and be baptized", why did he wait until he was 30 years old, and why don't they (the Mormons ) do the same ?

We do know that nobody was baptized into his (Jesus) church because there was no church -- Matt 16:18 " I will build my church" = "yet to be built" .... again the Mormons ignore this scripture, and continue to baptize people into their church.

Why did Jesus wait until he was 30 ?.

the water was representative of the will of the Father and Jesus was baptized into identification with his will,
In days of old warriors would dip (baptize) their arrows in blood to identify them with war,

The word "baptize" is not a translating from the bible but a transliteration, or a bringing about the spelling of the word to suit the English language, but we have to be careful because it is sometimes taken from the noun form and this causes people to believe that the act of baptism saves them when scripture doesn't teach such utter rubbish !

Great answer and correct ! but why did you not answer the question properly ?, you provided no reason why Jesus waited until he was 30.

It was the Jewish custom that at the age of 30 that one began his service. It is based on Numbers 4:47.

Yes, male members of the Levi tribe would be baptized by full immersion consecrating them. (Setting them apart)
Jesus was providing a picture of the same thing before starting out on his ministry.

Well done !!!!!!!

Why did Jesus wait until he was 30 ?:

You have to understand the Halacha and Jewish custom. People viewed Jesus as a Rabbi, and in accordance with Mosaic law, one has to have attained the age of 30 to enter into priesthood. Everything he did (or was alleged to do) fits some kind of purpose, legal, prophetic or otherwise. That's why.

A Jewish student may not become a Priest until he is 30 years old.
Jesus was simply following the Judaic Law.

Was it Judaic law that a person such as John the Baptist to "concentrate" "priests"?

The ministry of John the Baptist in the spiritof Elijah was decreasing and it was time to pass the "mantle" by the Jordan (as was done for Elisha by Elijah) over to Jesus, and he was confirmed Messiah there.

Thus he was fulfillment of the Law and Prophets with power of Moses and Elijah as implied at the Transfiguration, where again the Father confirmed Jesus as the Messiah, preaching for Jews to repent before he caused judgment against Jerusalem.

You mean 'consecrate'.

The Priesthood was pasted down from Aaron and his descendants.

Jesus, being God, was a somewhat special case!

But it does explain the 30 years old question.
