Our work on this site may not have contributed much in the overall scheme of things, but atheistic advocacy is working:

http://www.pewforum.org...

New U.S. demographic data from the Pew Research Center shows that the percentage of Americans declaring affiliation with a particular religion has declined sharply since 2007. Americans identifying as Christian dropped from 78.4% in 2007 to 70.6% in 2014. Those describing themselves as atheist, agnostic, or simple having no affiliation took up most of the slack, rising from 16.1% to 22.8%. Members of non-Christian faiths collectively rose from 4.7% to 5.9%.

The study estimates that 85% of adults age 70 and over are Christian, while only 56% of adults ages 18-24 are Christian. They also say that each individual generation has shown a slight decrease in religious affiliation compared to their statistics in 2007.

I like to think that our young people are beginning to mature a bit earlier so they can shake off the shackles of primitive belief systems more readily. Knowledge and critical thought have ever been the enemy of organized religion.

The USA is the only country in the world where an argument regarding evolution exists. I hate to disparage but it is certainly the only first world country where a majority of it's inhabitants can't recognise other countries in an atlas.

As previously noted, education is the bane of religion so many religious groups and factions fight to prevent good education. It's an uphill battle.

No, there isn't. "Spiritual, not religious" is growing leaps and bounds and that includes Christians, Jews, not so many Muslims, who keep the good stuff in the religious traditions and dump the junk, the satanic verses, the worthless mumb-jumbo of priesthoods. Goodness is universally recognized and Goodness is of a Good God who has provided the world with the Humanitarian Archetype of Goodness personified. You all know who I'm talking about already, don't you, and that's the real social change Power you're feeble atheism is up against. You mistake the dying out of traditional Abrahamic faiths because they are in their predicted End Times as the death of God which was predicted quite a long time ago and did God die? Doesn't look like it judging by the billions of people still taking that old Bible god business seriously.

Celestial Torah Christianity is just beginning and predicts our New Age of Aquarius will be extremely fertile ground for the Christ Aquarius Messiah coming into Their own Sign of the Baptist and House of the Messiah after 2160 years of travail and suffering and martyrdom of the Spirit of Christ in the Age of Pisces. People have only to learn that a new alternative Christian tradition has already begun with two great religious Visions in spiritual motion in our times plus a whole new Christian theology that isn't Bible bound and will passover the End Times of all Abrahamic religions that atheists wrongly think is the end of religion. Religion will never die because religion is the way human beings organize their major emotions. It's like trying to get rid of the planet Venus to stop songs of love being dedicated to Her despite thousands of years of Abrahamic war against Her kind.

The stealth religion nobody sees taking over the world. Just do a survey of all top leading newspapers and internet news agencies around the world and see that most everyone includes astrology sections and they never decrease in interest. Celestial Torah Christianity is based on such everlasting historical strength that organized religions have never attained even though some have been around and even been ruling religious civilizations for centuries, millennia, they still all fall down.

So afterall there is still hope.

The only worry is Evangical Protestantism. It dropped slightly in percentage terms but still had an increase in adherents. The more traditional versions of Christianity are slowly fading away but the evangicals are hanging in there.

It is an interesting development, indeed. Over here in Europe one can observe a similar phenomenon: the "moderate" believers dissolve into either non-religious or hardcore religious groups.

I think the change comes in large part from people accepting... lessening of social stigmatization.

Hahaha, talking 'bout My Generation..let's see yours get an equivalent generational Sign, our hippie Peace Sign declared the newest and most spiritually powerful religious icon in one Christianity's most holy cities, Nazareth, Israel. Let's see what your generation's produced in terms of influence on cultures. You can't even begin to count how much cultural influence our '60's, not '70's, generation has had on American and thus world culture. It was our generation that brought ecological consciousness to Americans. I was designing intentional communities for heat reduction in 1968 and co-organized an activist commune in 1972 that was doing Biodynamic/French-Intensive gardening techniques using a tenth of the normal water for such gardening and producing amazing abundant crops, all organic of course, and these are necessary Today for everyone's planetary survival. We led the way to dealing rationally with drugs which are here to stay as we led the social movement to legalize the most benign and panacea quality intoxicant on the planet, cannabis. I lead Christian theology now as God provides new Christian revelation when necessary and this time from a Jewish Christian source again. So next time somebody asked you, "What's your Sign", be sure to hold up the atheist ideological slogan, "For Sale, Cheap" and see what you can get for your used goods.

Yes, CTT. Everyone born on the same date, and with the same alignment of planets and configuration of stars, has exactly the same personality and they lead pretty much identical lives. Everyone knows that. Lol.

Once again, the 70s called and they want their goofiness back.

Man, or woman, I can't be sure since you chose not to put that information into your profile, all of that environmental consciousness is a wonderful thing. I have never had a problem with cannabis except when its use, like alcohol. spilled out of the user's life and into other. All of this other revelation that you are claiming is just your desire to be someone special. Oh, and I'm an atheist. What 'used gods' would I have to get rid of. Did that a long time ago. Ideology? I'm a secular humanist. The first concern is always the well being of the human race. Not a difficult proposition for most.

Good day, sir or ma'am.

I think the change comes in large part from people accepting... lessening of social stigmatization.

I agree, and the Internet has had some influence on that.

I am by no means old, but old enough that when I was a child, and clearly lacked any belief, I was the lone decedent voice publicly most of the time. That's not to say privately that many agreed.

And look, they just keep preaching the same discredited stories that more and more people are rejecting year after year.

There is still hope for America. I noticed no drop in Buddhism and an increase in Hinduism.
I humbly accept the congratulatory recognition.

This was the signature song of the 60s.

Lol, only 3% are atheists. Hardly a major accomplishment. Most of the people leaving religion still believe in God, just aren't religious.

Don't worry about it; this is a liberal media narrative. Only 3% are atheists, and the vast majority of the people leaving were mainline Christian. In all likelihood, these people were hardly Christians to begin with. Evangelical Christianity is actually growing, and Catholicism is remaining largely stable (the 'lapsed Catholics' that are leaving are being offset by immigrants).

It is a major step for secularism.

"According to statistics from the Federal Bureau of Prisons, Christians make up almost 80 percent of the prison population. Atheists make up about 0.2 percent. [...] It is safe to conclude that the godless do not fill prisons."
