Baby steps into the 21st century. We, as a nation, still have some catching up to do.

Hmm it would seem, that since ancient civilizations, such as the illustrious Roman empire, were not only tolerant of homosexuality, but openly accepted and practiced it-- were actually moving backwards?... lol

Fair point. To what do you attribute such a long period of reconciliation in the U.S.? And why, as a nation, do we fall behind European countries (e.g. Belgium, Denmark, France, Iceland, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, UK) on such progressive issues?

I suppose, and this is off the cuff speculation, that we are continuously adapting. Our adaptation, or evolution if you will, is unique in the aspect that we can alter our course into the future by using our knowledge of the past. We are revisiting old ideas from the past, and reforming them with dreams of a better future for humanity. This current age, has begun to unite itself, under the banner of humanity once again... only now, it has millenniums of history and practice under its belt.
