For nearly most of our history, as a species, there has been for the most part in the minds of almost everyone a focal point, a center to the microcosm we call the human experience.

This centrally locating (both individually and collectively) centrifugal attraction has classically been designated God. For God, to the religious mind, is not only the source from which we come but also the sustaining factor and that to which all creation returns. This very concept has unified the human experience like no other.

However, as humanity loses its belief in God and sterilizes its world with nothing more than unadulterated materialism, the spiritual sinews, whereby, we have been joined will in turn soon melt away. The concept of "God" is not merely romantic but it serves a very real purpose. It holds as a universal idea, crosses all languages, national boundaries, and is found among young and old, rich and poor, learned and unlearned, and those of sound body and those who are infirm.

Science, even though it has the power of prediction and probability, is a language not understood by those who are not schooled in it.

The common person uses symbols to speak of those things he, or she, is inept to describe, things which are as real as the material world surrounding oneself.

There lies a thread interwoven within the very fibers of our being, a thread which not only makes sound our autonomous constitution but also our collective soul. Without a unifying factor, a point at which our thoughts converge, our society and our world soon fall apart.

Yes, it's called ignorance. Our brains crave information and understanding, but since for the most part of our history, information was unattainable and understanding was not occurring, hence the brain was being starved.

This centrally locating (both individually and collectively) centrifugal attraction has classically been designated God. For God, to the religious mind, is not only the source from which we come but also the sustaining factor and that to which all creation returns. This very concept has unified the human experience like no other.

Really? Then, why are there so many beliefs systems that do not focus on the God you believe in, or your friends, or your neighbors, or most of the rest of the population of the world? In fact, long before your God ever reached the shores of the Americas, their belief systems were entirely different. Even within your belief system, there are tens of thousands of denominations, how is this a unification of the human experience?

It would appear that you have completely misplaced the entire history of religion.

The only thing humanity is losing is it's ignorance as information is becoming widely attainable and our understanding of the world around us increases. Along with everything else, we are evolving and no longer require the myths and superstitions that used to fill the void of the craving our brains required. The concept of your God was only held by a minority and did little more than cause conflict.

Science, even though it has the power of prediction and probability, is a language not understood by those who are not schooled in it.

Then, get schooled in the language. That's what your brain is for, to learn and understand. As time marches on and more information is attained, our children will understand more than we as they learn the language of science. Soon, Relativity will be taught in elementary schools.

But, none of that will happen if we don't let go our ignorance and keep clinging to and embracing the myths and superstitions of long ago, that if we don't evolve, we will perish.

The common person uses symbols to speak of those things he, or she, is inept to describe, things which are as real as the material world surrounding oneself.

And, that is helpful, how?

There lies a thread interwoven within the very fibers of our being, a thread which not only makes sound our autonomous constitution but also our collective soul. Without a unifying factor, a point at which our thoughts converge, our society and our world soon fall apart.

The factor at which our thoughts converge is understanding, not myth and superstition, which has never accomplished anything other than cause conflict. If our societies and world are falling apart, it is because people refuse to abandon their ignorance.

You now have a unifying factor in science meets the bible and a team to keep it together.

It is called a multi probe approach. The shortest path is not necessarily the fastest path.
