Just to clarify, my recent thread has nothing to do with philosophical nihilism. I would say I supported a sort of Nihilism as soon as I turned Buddhist, given the nihilistic nature of Buddhism.

"Shouldn't" implies moral laws that don't exist.

You can care or you can not. Neither is objectively better than the other.

Lol. Nihilism doesn't mean I have no care or preference. Quite the opposite, Nihilism leads toward more inclination in pursuing one's preferences.

"Why do you care?" is a legitimate question. "You should not care." That is a statement and a false one at that.

Hey, I wasn't meaning to be offensive; it was my understanding that Nihilists consider everything as meaningless. By logical extension, the number of others who hold your views, and anything said in this thread, is also meaningless.

But apparently Nihilism doesn't mean what I thought it meant. Care to correct my error?

Nihilists consider everything as intrinsically meaningless. We make our own way, rather than waiting for orders from a moral principle or from God.

There's no intrinsic why. It makes you happy to care about it, I suppose

Because even Nihilists have emotions and 'caring' is an emotional state separate from logic. As a nihilist, you can still create bonds with people and learn to care about them, which leads you to become invested in their well-being. <shrugs> Life is meaningless but why does that negate our ability to care?

Nihilists =/= heartless.

LOL it was a joke. I can't say I 'hate' emotions since that is an emotional statement...

I just find emotions to have limited use and are more detrimental overall than advantageous.
