Some people say well christians are anti science..............well no they are not, they love computers and air conditioning just like everyone else.

Christians generally are happy for science to progress using the scientific method except for evolution why ?

Cause alot of things in science can be made compatible with their religious beliefs, but evolution is a threat, it's a threat to to the belief that man was made in a certain way, a short time ago (relative to the time scales evolution works on) with no natural predecessors.

But why or why should that matter ? why not just accept this is how humans came into existence ? cause without that foundation a whole ton of beliefs and pretty much the religion as they know it comes crashing down for example..........

1) Man lived in an ideal environment for some time (no striving, no death, no earth quakes etc etc

2) Man disobey God and thus now lives in a "fallen" world, (striving, death, earthquakes, etc etc)

3) Jesus makes it okey again, and it some how involves among other things Jesus being crucified (tortured to death)

Evolution, no fallen world, death and suffering and the struggle to survive is not a recent new phenomena, and man is not some special creation that was divinely made a short time ago.

And if the bible can't get the past literally right, its a hard sell to then say but hey trust it literally when it comes to various claims about the future.

And thats really the underpinning of why people feel the need to see evolution is refuted with the following..........

Dog only comes from Dog ergo evolution is false

A hurricane in a junk yard wouldn't produce a 747 ergo evolution is false

OMG look how complex it is !! ergo evolution is false

No seriously, I mean it just won't work if one bit is removed, it's so complex.............ergo evolution is false.

The bible, Gods holy, without error, super awesome, and the final authority on anything contradicts evolution ergo evolution is false.

Well how do you explain ?................therefore evolution is false.

I think it's simpler than that.
If evolution is true then there is no afterlife, that's why they can't accept evolution.
It's why gods and religions were created in the first place.

People recognizethe essentially" "religious" character of evolutionism. Even though they themselves believe evolution to be true, they acknowledge the fact that they "believe" it. "Science" is not supposed to be something one "believes". Science should be knowledge which can be demonstrated and observed and repeated. Evolution cannot be proved, or even tested. It can only be believed.

(Part of an article concerning evolution)

-Evolution of whales-
During the 1990s our understanding of whale evolution made a quantum jump. In 1997, Gingerich and Uhen noted that whales (cetaceans) "... have a fossil record that provides remarkably complete evidence of one of life's great evolutionary adaptive radiations: transformation of a land mammal ancestor into a diversity of descendant sea creatures."
The trail of whale evolution begins in Paleocene time, about 60 mya, with a group of even-toed, hoofed, trotting, scavenging carnivorous mammals called mesonychians. The first whales (pakicetids) are known from lower Eocene rocks, that formed about 51 mya; the pakicetids are so similar to mesonychians that some were MISIDENTIFIED as belonging to that group. However, the teeth of pakicetids are more like those of whales from middle Eocene rocks, about 45 mya, than they are like the teeth of mesonychians. Pakicetids are found in nonmarine rocks and it is not clear how aquatic they were.
In 1994, Ambulocetus natans, whose name means "walking whale that swims," was described from middle Eocene rocks of Pakistan. This species provides fossil evidence of the origin of aquatic locomotion in whales. Ambulocetus preserves large forelimbs and hind limbs with large hands and feet, and the toes have hooves as in mesonychians. Ambulocetus is regarded as having webbing between the toes and it could walk on land as well as swim; thus, it lived both in and out of the water.
From late Eocene time onward, evolution in whales shows reduction of the hind-limbs, modification of the forelimbs and hands into flippers for steering, development of a massive tail, etc.; all of these changes are modifications for the powerful swimming of modern whales. The fossil Rodhocetus from the upper Eocene rocks, about 38 mya, of Pakistan already shows some of these modifications.

www.agiweb.org/news/evolution/examplesofevolution.html

"I'll now try to summarize the article.

SUMMARY
There were land animals that evolved into walking whales who hung out on land and in the water. Their limbs fell off over time, and they became fishlike as opposed to landlike. Being only aquatic opposed to being aquatic and a land scavenger was not adventagious, thus its feet fell off, and all of the other walking whales with hands are nowhere to be found.

So, to be clear, you accept scientific conclusions (and the advances derived from them) only when they don't contradict your religion? If you deny evolution then you should also reject antibiotics, vaccinations, and much of modern medicine (among other things).

Do you completely hold to your conviction that evolution is "demonstrably false philisophical construct" or are you a hypocrite?

I'm not worried about an afterlife.

An intelligent designer could create any type of system they want.

Getting back to science. The general concept of evolution is worse than putting a sensor, four wheels, and a toaster on a record as it spins, then trying to convince me that the toaster is conscious and self aware. Then you try to say there is proof because the toaster moves and spins every time I talk to it. There is more evidence for self aware toaster theory than evolution. It is untestable, unprovable, and the claims that actually are made are like blindfolding yourself, throwing darts at a wall, showing me the holes, and making 15,000 speculations as to where the holes in the wall came from, then picking out the 5 most logical theories of wall holes, and claiming in the end that the sheet rock must have come like that, holes and all, from the store. Then you do the obvious. You should as the creator of came from the store with holes in it theory", you screamand yell and put your fingers in your ears if I dare say it seems like those holes look like dart holes.

It"s no more complicated then, a theory is presented to be believable and true. And that theory is taught to the children of those who believe otherwise. And children being what they are, are in experienced and trusting of their teachers. Now in the US it is mandatary for a child to attend school therefore public school for those who can"t afford private school. Those who can"t afford private schools for their child, by law, have to allow their children to learn and be tested and graded on their knowledge of such as the "theory" of evolution which is contrary to their beliefs.

If you want to think or believe the will to continue to be conscious comes from something that has no consciousness, then have at it. But the government, in the case of the US, has no right to impose a system of belief on it"s public or adopt a system of belief as the true system of belief. And the intellectual community has sustained to date that evolution isn"t a system of belief, or a part of a system of belief but yet, it is their system of belief. They teach it as if it"s the truth and that which is contrary to that is wrong or incorrect. If you call it science, then your interpretation of evidence found is your system of belief. Of which you trust to be true and believe and agree with, as apposed to other systems of belief, therefore your system of belief.

T0 dhardage, as I deny evolution is science, you beg the question in asking me to demonstrate evolutionary theory is false. Try asking a logical question.

To Skepticalone, as it is the Christian faith that provides the only way to rationally account for empiricism, it cannot contract my religion. Indeed, but for the creationists that founded modern science, you atheists would still be in the dark ages. If you disagree, tell us how an atheist rationally accounts for the uniformity of nature when it insists all of reality is the product of time and chance acting on matter (i.e., chaos).

And to deny the goo-to-the-zoo evolution deception has no impact on my acceptance of modern medicine. To the contrary, it is because of the evolution delusion that modern medicine is being held back.

Try harder.

Try harder.

Good post.
