So we have the earliest civilization and the Garden of Eden story happening in the same area of the world. Hocus pocus or fact?

Atheist Science

"July 1895, a party of miners working near Bridal Veil Falls, California, found the tomb of woman whose skeletal remains were six-feet-eight inches in length. The miners had found the Amazon behind a wall of rock that had been shaped and fitted together with an apparent knowledge of masonry. When they had broken through the wall, they hoped that they had stumbled upon some ancient treasure trove. Instead of gold or jewels, the miners remains of a woman whose skeletal frame measured six-feet-eight inches in height. The mysterious madonna had been wrapped in animal skins and covered with a fine gray powder. She clutched the remains of a child to her breast.

Scientists in Los Angeles agreed that the mummy was that of a woman from a race that had flourished on the continent long before any of the Native American tribes had become dominant. Their learned consensus was that she would have stood over seven feet tall in life, thereby making the males of her kind at least eight feet tall."

The Rise Of Civilization In The Middle East And Africa

"Introduction
"
"""" The first full civilization emerged by 3500 B.C. in the Tigris-Euphrates
valley in the Middle East. Relatively soon thereafter civilization developed
along the Nile in Egypt, and later spread to other parts of the Middle East
and one region in Africa. The advent of civilization provided a framework for
most of the developments in world history. Additionally, the specific early
civilizations that arose in the Middle East and Africa had several distinctive
features, in political structure and cultural tone, for example. These
features secured the evolution of these societies until the partial eclipse of
the river-valley civilizations after about 1000 B.C. The early civilizations
in the Middle East and North Africa served as generators of a number of
separate and durable civilization traditions, which can still be found in
civilizations around the Mediterranean, in parts of Europe, and even across
the Atlantic.
"
"""" Both of these early civilizations formed around major rivers - the Tigris
and Euphrates in Mesopotamia and the Nile in northeastern Africa. Explaining
how civilizations emerged in the Middle East and then Africa requires a
reminder of the conditions that contributed to change after 4000 B.C. and a
more precise definition of civilization. Once that is done, we can turn to the
characteristics of Mesopotamian civilization, from its origins around 3500
B.C. until it experienced an important period of disunity around 1000 B.C.
Next comes Egypt, the world's second civilization in time, which again can be
traced until about 1000 B.C. The two early civilizations had very different
cultures and political structures reflecting their very separate origins. By
1000 B.C. both of these two early civilizations produced offshoots in eastern
Africa, southern Europe, and additional centers in the Middle East. These
smaller centers of civilization made important contributions of their own, for
example, the monotheistic religion created among the Jewish people in
Palestine.

So what is your contention? Europe was first or Africa was first? Or both? And if no one was in Mesopotamia say 7,000 years ago, what do you propose was the issue that kept humans and civilization void from this area for all those thousands upon thousands upon thousands of years? Did the European Cro Magnums build a wall that kept humans from entering Mesopotamia? Technically, parts of the given location of Eden is now under water and parts of it were a part of Africa.

Most people think of the Garden of Eden as being in the Middle East. That's understandable, but Africa is the only landmass specifically mentioned in relation to Eden:

A river went out of Eden to water the garden, and from there it parted and became four heads. The name of the first is Pison, which surrounds the land of Haviylah, where there is gold. The name of the second river is Gihon, which surrounds the whole land of Ethiopia. (Gen. 2:10-13)
Ethiopia, of course, is in Africa, and the Great Rift Valley runs through it.

Sorry, Neanderthals aren't "fathers" to Cro Magnon. They have a common ancestor that they both came from several hundred thousand years ago (probably homo erectus). And if you're anything but sub-Saharan African, you now have Neanderthal genes.

The Bible doesn't speak of where the "others" that Cain found his wife came from. We just know his father Adam was the first one labeled as a "man". We know there was a land called Nod outside of the Eden area, but we don't know who or what they were, only that they existed.

Cro MAGNONS were humans. What do you think Cro Magnons were, if they weren't humans?

They lived in the land of Nod. Cain, Adam and Eve's son, got his wife from them.

How about Neanderthals? Where do they fit in the Bible?

Cro magnon's father

Sorry, Neanderthals aren't "fathers" to Cro Magnon. They have a common ancestor that they both came from several hundred thousand years ago (probably homo erectus). And if you're anything but sub-Saharan African, you now have Neanderthal genes.

Maybe I do. How could I know such a thing

By getting your dna tested.

Of course if they had Ron Jeremy's skull, Mini Me's skull, and my skull, they'd label us as 3 different species...

What made them "die out" while we survived

No one knows. We probably killed them off is my guess.

All of them? Why do you think the earliest known civilizations are relatively not very old in history? Was the evolution to modern humans something that happened only 6,000-10,000 years ago?

Sure, maybe that could happen before dna testing. But not now.

well no we mated with some of them.Their genes live on in us, so they aren't really "gone".

>>Why do you think the earliest known civilizations are relatively not very old in history?

I suppose it took a while to get civilization going, from when modern humanity began (50,000 years ago) to the time when agriculture took off on a large enough scale to force people to start creating and living in cities.

>>Was the evolution to modern humans something that happened only 6,000-10,000 years ago?

More like 50,000 years ago. When there was a sudden explosion of art, spirituality, and new technologies(tool making).
