From what I have seen (I will have to do more research) I think Islam is more reasonable than Christianity and will probably eventually convert to it.

So anybody who wants to try to convince me otherwise or urge me on, please do it here, but keep it clean please.

- Most certainly. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask. :-)

I think Islam is more reasonable than Christianity and will probably eventually convert to it.

- Welcome to Islam, eventually. This is good news. Would you mind sharing why you think that is the case?

I think that they may actually be the same religion but the Quran is the literal word of God where the Bible is actually written by man.

yes it is far more reasonable, they stone female adulterers, they rape their own women and other women, they treat women worse than dogs, they kill homosexuals, they blow up others who do not believe in islam and some who do, they have rules on assault babies without upsetting their god,or who you can sell your animals too after sodomising said animal..

yeah it sounds perfect..

I know some about Islam but I would need to do more research. I don't think anything deters me except there is some violence in it but it's the same with Christianity.

There's plenty of bad things in Christianity.

So why choose either, if there are "bad things" in both?

Exactly. The violence was commuted with more political motivations, Religion was used as the excuse as opposed to the cause.

mashallah :)

What does that mean?
Roughly translates to "God wills it", Arabic expression upon hearing something praiseworthy or good.

So anybody who wants to try to convince me otherwise or urge me on, please do it here, but keep it clean please.

How much do you know of Islam so far? Is there anything that seems to deter you?

I know some about Islam but I would need to do more research. I don't think anything deters me except there is some violence in it but it's the same with Christianity.

Much of the violence has political roots, especially the conflicts in the Levant.

hmm but isn't the Quran supposed to be the literal word of God?

Exactly. The violence was commuted with more political motivations, Religion was used as the excuse as opposed to the cause.

Hmm, can you explain further>

The conflicts in Syria and Iraq were the inevitable results of the borders drawn by the allied powers after WW1. During WW1, British forces funded Arab nationalist movements within the Arabian peninsula, promising the Arabs a trans-national "pan arab" state had the Ottomans collapsed. Shortly after WW1, the British, the French and the Russians devised a plan on how to carve up the Middle East after WW1. They divided the region by which sphere of influence would go to which imperial power, going completely against their promise made to the Arabs. Long, straight lines were drawn up arbitrarily, *completely* ignoring religious and regional differences in the middle east (http://www.stripes.com...). These types of colonial borders were the root cause for the resulting instability in Iraq and Syria a century later.

To understand how reckless these borders were, imagine if I had the ability to redraw the borders of Europe. I made Crimea a part of Turkey, Bulgaria and Austria became the same country, Portugal became a part of Spain and Denmark became a part of Germany. These borders would inevitably result in unrest from the regional population. And like in the Middle East, it did. In fact, this agreement was one of the primary reasons Kurdistan never became a country.

Hmm, so the "bad things" in Islam aren't that bad?
