Whether women should be allowed to be ordained as clergy. This topic is still being debated today as the two largest faith groups in the U.S. -- the Roman Catholic Church and Southern Baptist Convention -- remain profoundly opposed to allowing women to attain positions of power and authority.

Well, it is, but its not in the denominations in question. If their texts tell them no, then no. They have a higher power to follow, and the instructions are pretty simple. Equality plays no part in the higher power's instructions.
Here we have an advocate for Islamic arranged marriages demonstrating that children can consent to sex.

The Catholic Church states that it doesn't have the authority to ordain women. The Church passes on what it has received. People have this misconception that the Church makes up rules etc... instead, the Church's true mission is to pass on what it has been given and to preach in season and out.
