Where exactly did you hear that myth?

Those that ARE afraid to take on Jesus are clearly nothing special. Taking on Jesus, the "ultimate pacifist", while atheists cannot afford to be violent, provides a contrast that indicates a pansy group of scattered anti-believers who want to eradicate faith but lack the conviction to go all out for it.

Atheists that DO attack Jesus' character and sanity at least have the guts to humor his existence. Atheists that do not humor his existence ARE afraid of his legendary power over science and logic. Legends are possible while myths are easier to debunk. Failure to differentiate will result in my chuckling patronizing of your ignorance.

It's called indoctrination, and is a testament only to the power of instilling fantasy thoughts into the minds of children with constant reinforcement.

Good luck on catching up on 2000 years of reversal. Seems futile when put in that perspective...

Because the cross is offensive. It challenges the morality of every man. If one doesn't want their conscience or morality challenged, Jesus is an unpleasant prospect. Muhammed doesn't challenge in this way because he was a violent pedaphile who only claimed to be a prophet. Christ claimed to be the final judge of every man. And with 1 out of every 3 people on Earth being Christian, He is atheism's greatest threat.

Apparently bulproof doesn't get the subtle implication of Jesus' threatening supremacy over the rest of humanity.

A God gone human to become the ultimate good guy to put off the bad PR of his crazy dad....

Avoiding Jesus is telling. Take him out and you establish a game changer that could intimidate the rest of the religious world. But you can't do that, whether you are that arrogant or not. Dismissing his existence also tells everybody that you atheists do not have what it takes to have a superior philosophy. You'll never drill that doubt into the Church's forehead, so quit attempting insanity. You desire to knock Christians off their top position in the food chain? You would not last the day after.

In our defense, Jesus is extremely scary. With his pacifist teachings, his tranquil expression, his long hippie hair, the intimidating way he dresses -- loose robes and open-toed sandals, like a thug in a gang. The themes of forgiveness and self-sacrifice which cling to his person are very aggressive and domineering, suggesting someone who might knife you to death in a disagreement. Indeed as an atheist I can think of no more frightening character than Jesus Christ. I dwell constantly on what a threat he is to my worldview.
