What is the Dillahunty Dodge?
"
The Dillahunty Dodge is not committing to any position during a discussion so you can"t be cross examined.

This allows you to attack the arguments and beliefs of others while giving no answers or rebuttals to anything.

The Dillahunty dodge is in essance, playing offense and never playing defense.

As opposed to "God dunnit", it offers us...(answer below)

Kinda like starting a whole bunch of threads with just links in them? Oh, the irony.

"Dillahunty Dodge" sounds way too snazzy for an online argumentative tactic. This sounds like it should be the signature move of some Davy Crockett-like folk hero who could dodge flying tomahawks thrown at him. I'm actually angry with you now that I know this has nothing to do with flying tomahawks. I'm getting angrier by the second. No tomahawks? No bowie knives, nothing? Explain why you have crushed my dreams.

The Dillahunty Dodge is a silly pretend fallacy coined by Matt Slick. In a debate with Dillahunty, Slick tried to claim that everything in existence is either physical or conceptual. Dillahunty rejected the premise as unsupported so Slick tried to shift the burden of proof onto Dillahunty to name a 3rd option. When Dillahunty explained that it was not his burden, Slick tried to claim victory.

What Slick doesn't understand is that he is presenting a false Dichotomy. A true Dichotomy is "A" and "Not A". However, "Conceptual" =/= "Not Physical", and claiming that it is because we can't think of anything else is an argument from ignorance. But what is most hilarious about this is that the entire point of Slicks argument was to prove the existence of God, yet when someone asked Slick "which one is God?" he answered "Neither". WTF?

As far as your silly notion of atheists not willing to have their position scrutinized, that is just as example of your ignorance. We're more than willing to talk about our position, for example why the vast majority of us believe that skepticism is superior to faith. But if all you want to do is talk about whether a God exists with no way to demonstrate the truth of the claim you are making then it is not our fault when you come across looking like an imbecile.
