Genesis 3:8 is an example of God temporarily taking human form.

It's very common for God in the Old Testament to do this...

He likewise appears in human form to Abraham in Genesis 18, to Jacob in Genesis 32:22-32, to Moses, Aaron, Nadab, Abihu, and the 70 elders of Israel in Exodus 24:9-10, Isaiah sees God in human form in Isaiah 6:1-5, and likewise Ezekiel sees God in human form in Ezekiel 1:26-28.

Well try to get around it all you want, according to the Old Testament people have indeed seen God...

"So Jacob called the name of the place Peniel, saying, "For I HAVE SEEN GOD FACE TO FACE, and yet my life has been delivered."" (Genesis 32:30)

"Then Moses and Aaron, Nadab, and Abihu, and seventy of the elders of Israel went up, and THEY SAW THE GOD OF ISRAEL. There was under his feet as it were a pavement of sapphire stone, like the very heaven for clearness." (Exodus 24:9-10)

"And Manoah said to his wife, "We shall surely die, for WE HAVE SEEN GOD."" (Judges 13:22)

"And I said: "Woe is me! For I am lost; for I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips; for MY EYES HAVE SEEN THE KING, THE LORD OF HOSTS!"" (Isaiah 6:5)

So in light of the very clear verses of people seeing God, what do you do with verses in the Bible where it says no one has seen God? Well if you actually examine the verses carefully, you would notice it is not making a blanket statement. What those verses are saying is no one can see God in all his glory; not no one can see God period.

When the Old Testament saints see God, they are seeing God in a visible form and not in all his glory.

So no contradiction.

It is clear that the writers of the old testament envision God as appearing in human form. You have to do a whole lot of metaphorical interpretion to think otherwise.

Trying to interpret the passages I quoted metaphorically or as mere visions is the escape route of many anti-Trinitarians, but those interpretations doesn't work. The passages don't say they saw God in a vision, it says they saw God (obviously in a visible form because God can't be seen in his true form).

These passages also do away with the attempts of many Jews to say God can't appear as a human when their own Bible says otherwise.

It's an attempt to use physical imagery to describe a more non-physical state of affairs. When man feels guilt, he hides from those who he has hurt and severs his relations out of remorse. Man sinned against God, so he attempted to hide from Him. The Lord God was not searching for man in any physical sense, but rather searched for man as an endeavour to bring the guilty humans closer to His goodness.
Genesis I. And God created man to his own image: to the image of God he created him: male and female he created them.

Have you ever seen the US President strolling about without armoured limos, armed guards and Marine One hovering nearby?

Do you think a Jewish god wouldn't have all that, plus a nagging mother telling him to put on a sweater?

It was probably a terrible racket.

It rather begs the question. Why temporarily?

You can't use the free will argument since then God would be guilty of a double standard.

It's very common for God in the Old Testament to do this...

Well try to get around it all you want, according to the Old Testament people have indeed seen God...

But the bible also says that no man has ever seen God...which in that case is a contradiction.

Exodus 33:20:

"But He said, "You cannot see My face, for no man can see Me and live!"

Though Moses in the context scripture does say to show his glory, God doesn't mention anything about full glory or anything here. He is making a very plain statement.

And besides, how can God be more or less glorious than he already is? That makes no sense, because he's God. Unless you are one of those Christians that believe in the equally ridiculous trinity...

When the Old Testament saints see God, they are seeing God in a visible form and not in all his glory.

The bible says nothing about God being visible in his full glory, at least that I know of. I know John says something about no one seeing God, yet seeing God-junior (Jesus) explaining him or something trinity like, which is another contradiction to other scriptures.

So no contradiction.

Yes contradiction. Very contradiction. Wow.

And what a pathetic attempt at denying the existence of obvious contradictions in the bible. The fun part is that you want desperately to believe the contradictions you concoct in your futile attempt to defend the original contradiction. You people are just hilarious.

Joseph Smith said he saw god too. Are you going to convert to Mormonism?

Joseph Smith - History 1:31

"He had on a loose robe of most exquisite whiteness. It was a whiteness beyond anything earthly I had ever seen; nor do I believe that any earthly thing could be made to appear so exceedingly white and brilliant. His hands were naked, and his arms also, a little above the wrist; so, also, were his feet naked, as were his legs, a little above the ankles. His head and neck were also bare. I could discover that he had no other clothing on but this robe, as it was open, so that I could see into his bosom."

Since so many people from other religions say they saw god and got direct revelation from him, how do you know who to believe?

Not that it was left out, specifically, but if you read the Quran, you'll find the beliefs of what constitutes Allah are not even remotely the same as Christianity.

Not that it was left out, specifically, but if you read the Quran, you'll find the beliefs of what constitutes Allah are not even remotely the same as Christianity.

I've read the Quran. It's the Old Testament on steroids violence-wise, and without the enlightened reasoning of the New Testament. The Quran has no sense of the Sermon on the Mount.

Sorry, but the Quran is nothing like that, clearly you haven't read it.

In 1941, Haj Amin al-Husseini came to Germany and met with Adolf Hitler, Von Ribbentrop, Heinrich Himmler, Joachim and many other Nazi leaders. Husseini greatly desired to encourage them to extend the Nazis" anti Jewish program to the Arab world. He brought forth 30,000 (known) "Soldiers of Allah" to fight on behalf of the Nazi regime.

Although the word Jihad standing by itself means "struggle," what Westerners need to focus on when reading the Hadith regarding Mohammed"s Jihad is similar to the focus needed when reading Mein Kampf (My Struggle) by Adolph Hitler.
-Walid Shoebat, ex-Muslim
"God's War on Terror"

Naziism is the ideology and practice associated with the 20th-century German Nazi Party and Nazi state as well as other far-right groups. Usually characterized as a form of fascism that incorporates racism and antisemitism.

Had Charles Martel not been victorious at Poitiers, then we should in all probability have been converted to Mohammedanism, that cult which glorifies the heroism and which opens up the seventh Heaven to the bold warrior alone. Then the Germanic races would have conquered the world. Christianity alone prevented them from doing so."
-Adolf Hitler, August 28, 1942

-----
-----

Before there was Hitler or Mein Kampf, concentration camps and contemplation of the Jewish right to exist within Hitler's mind, there was Muhammad, the Quran, and the idea of the mass murder and exile by force of the Christians and Jews from the lands of Arabia.

-----
-----

Islam-

"the Apostle of Allah said, "Kill any Jew that falls into your power.""
-Ibn Ishaq, Siratul Rasul, v. 553

Muhammed was fully antisimatic. (Meaning a hatred for Jews)

-----
-----

"The Ten Commandments have lost their validity. CONSCIENCE IS A JEWISH INVENTION, it is a blemish like circumcision."
-Rauschning,"Hitler Speaks, pg. 220

Hitler was fully antisimatic.

Now look at Ayaan Hirsi Ali, an ex-Muslim describing Islam.

vs.

"Westerners are the ones who misunderstand Islam. The Quran mandates these punishments. It gives a legitimate basis for abuse, so that the perpetrators feel no shame and are NOT HOUNDED BY CONSCIENCE..."
-Ayaan Hirsi Ali, ex Muslim

-----
-----

"But even more: all at once the Jew also becomes liberal and begins to rave about the necessary progress of mankind."
-Adolf Hitler, Mein Kampf

-----
-----

"Islam is not like any other religion. Islam is a supremacist racist political and social ideology wrapped in a thin peel of religious rituals. It seeks domination and supremacy over all other systems and religions. Islam is worse than Nazism and fascism systems combined without any doubt."
-Excerpt from her letter first shared by Louder with Crowder, from Magda Borham, Egyptian

-----
-----

Quran-
2:191-193

"And slay them wherever you come upon them, and expel them from where they expelled you; persecution is more grievous than slaying. But fight them not by the Holy Mosque until they should fight you there; then, if they fight you, slay them " such is the recompense of unbelievers, but if they give over, surely Allah is All-forgiving, All-compassionate. Fight them, till there is no persecution and the religion is Allah"s; then if they give over, there shall be no enmity save for evildoers."

Quran-
3:110-112

-----
-----

"You are the best nation ever brought forth to men, bidding to honour, and forbidding dishonour, and believing in Allah. Had the People of the Book believed, it were better for them..."

1)The first part of this sura (verse) appeals to a oneness, a national identity.

2)The second part of this sura begins the addressing of "the people of the book". "People of the book" in the Quran is addressing Jews and Christians.

In Mein Kampf, Hitler used the idea of "the Jewish peril". He hated Jews.

In Chapter 11 of Mein Kampf Hitler began a rant concerning oneness, as in loyalty to the nation and race. Hitler wanted everyone devoted to one ideological way of thinking that was anti-Jew and posed the idea of oneness, a unity, a sacrifice of self to the ideology and the nation.

-Grand Mufti

"Arise, o sons of Arabia. Fight for your sacred rights. Slaughter Jews wherever you find them. Their spilled blood pleases Allah, our history and religion."

You know Hitler got his ideas from Islam. Of course if you'd actually looked at me rebuttal you would have seen that Islam is where Hitler got his ideas.
