Cult (definition) - "a relatively small group of people having religious beliefs or practices regarded by others as strange or sinister."

It would appear so.

What 'belief', exactly, do you to be religious in nature of atheists? What practices? What about it is strange or sinister?

I used to also when I was a Christian. I thought it was strange that anyone could be an atheist because god's existence seemed so obvious to me. As it turned out, it was religion that was the strange mindset.

There are some extremely unpleasant cults associated with Christianity, and the JWs are one of the nastiest, imo.

Nine million publishers, who are Baptized and doing presenting God's Word to people all over the world, and there are more who are studying with the JWs than there is Jws. Is that a "relatively small group?"

There is a world wide poll that was done on various religions over the world, they are all declining in numbers Now even if the JWs sit still they will soon be more than in each of the world religions. These are facts, not just a comment from a definition.

That would be the number that have had their heads dipped, and never returned to church for the rest of their lives, the pets of the dogs and cats blessed on Bless the pets day, and anyone else that likes to sign a government form and putting the religion down as RC.

The only way you will get a true count in Christendom is for governments to impose a $10.00 a head tax on each parishioner registered.

Idk... i'm more spiritual than Atheist; however, i have never seen atheist churches. I know Atheists will stick together for their cause, but in my eyes... they aren't evil - they are actually a blessing to the earth. They are free thinkers - they are free. I like the sound of that more than what i have heard from organized religion. We are all powerful, we are all free to be what we want to be - what will you be? Answer that question, you will either be good to the world or bad. Now... i understand there are bad Atheists. But, the ones that do their due diligence, the ones that study, the ones that are just as curious as someone spiritual; sees, understands, evaluates, and finally comes to a conclusion of confusion ... at this point, i have never seen a humble theist (or very few) that will actually respect this atheist for their work and passion.

On the scale of religious groups, that's pretty small. Most of the major religions have billions of followers. In fact, JW's would be classified as a new religious movement.

What i don't think you understand is that religion itself is declining against an ever-increasingly secular world. Jehovah's witnesses are not exempt from this.

I don't see them as "free thinkers". Do you know how many times they say "believe in science!" while ignoring science. Such as? When I prsent them with science as shown in this video.

Look, i believe in spirituality ... i just know a lot have it wrong. Science is a integral part of spirituality, for it is showing us the magic of this world. There are no absolute truths. We may be flying in 2000 years. We may be getting married to robots in a million years. However, we can't do this if everyone was passionate about religion. It takes a form of disconnection from spirituality to push into the future. I understand some scientists, or a lot if referring the past, were religious and did great things as well... but, it doesn't equal the type of person i am talking about - pure material... I see beauty in that - earth is this person's paradise. That should be highly respected.

The world wouldn't be what it is without our differences. In Bangladesh, they used swords and guns to kill an atheist! I find sadness in organized religion. I can feel why Jesus didn't like it when he was exposed to it... side note: I don't know if he was real, but this fact makes him relate-able and i like that. See, i don't care about all the other fluff, i respect the spirituality in the past, present and future. I see it as a must for the time, a story such as the Christians say, it was necessary then and now. The spirituality of the past is also to be respected.

Everyone is needed. That is why i am spiritual. Now, some are really not needed... may have been, but it is getting past their time. And... guess what, atheist are the ones hitting the hardest. We are going to evolve. In this evolution we will understand two things... Who is God? and What is Paradise? Two very important questions i have noticed most everyone have trouble understanding. I get it... not to boast, but it makes me sad many can't see it ... it is something that will heal the earth once understood. And guess what, Atheists also fit into its definition.

We won't make it a million years. There are nukes right now. Muslims, Jews, Christians, and Atheists have threatened to use them. It's just a matter of time before the world looks up, and... Christ's people are vanished.

This makes both a cult to me... Organized religion is a joke.

Then why do atheists have churches

Idk... i'm more spiritual than Atheist; however, i have never seen atheist churches.

You know what, i hate this doomsday vision theists have towards earth -- but, in a way i also want it to happen. I want theists to show the world their ugly face, then hopefully we will grow to a new civilization. Humans are survivors, we will push into the future. If we don't, and it really is the end ... I will confess to you, that would mean i am the spirit of "god." You would be shocked if you read the story of my life. Take this how you want - belief or not - i don't even want to believe it.

Here is a Christian song that displays how we feel about the "doomsday". We don't see it as gloomy at all. It's a time to rejoice.

That isn't cult vs non cult, that's just our religious beliefs are true, the others guys is not therefore they are a cult.

Go read up on some red flags for cult behavior, if you actually care, but I don't think you do, cause you will see that Christianity in alot of forms has some red flags.

"SACRED SCIENCE. The group's perspective is absolutely true and completely adequate to explain EVERYTHING. The doctrine is not subject to amendments or question. ABSOLUTE conformity to the doctrine is required."

MYSTICAL MANIPULATION. The potential convert to the group becomes convinced of the higher purpose and special calling of the group through a profound encounter/experience, for example, through an alleged miracle or prophetic word of those in the group.

ENVIRONMENT CONTROL. Limitation of many/all forms of communication with those outside the group. Books, magazines, letters and visits with friends and family are taboo. "Come out and be separate!"

"The leader claims to be breaking with tradition, offering something novel, and instituting the only viable system for change that will solve life's problems or the world's ills. While claiming this, the cult then surreptitiously uses systems of psychological coercion on its members to inhibit their ability to examine the actual validity of the claims of the leader and the cult."

"They persuade followers to drop their families, jobs, careers, and friends to follow them. They (not the individual) then take over control of their followers' possessions, money, lives. The cult's leaders are self-appointed, messianic persons who claim to have a special mission in life. For example, the flying saucer cult leaders claim that people from outer space have commissioned them to lead people to special places to await a space ship."

I've seen how it works. The day god faces everyone on this planet - knowing everyones eyes or on him... i've seen and felt this. I wish i was insane ... that would explain more, however, i am quite sane ... with experiences everyone says is impossible... experiences i say are impossible... to the point i will just concede and say i have had a lot of momentary insane lapses maybe... if not, there is something i see that is helping understand the "Spirit of god." I say that without any religious affiliation... i just see and feel how "god" feels. Maybe - the day i die is the apocalypse.
