I've noticed some with furry hands, but I haven't seen their feet.

Me in particular. Yes.

I have Large hands and feet. The same size as people who are 6 inches taller than me. I also have hairy feet. My feet are even like hands.

I'm not sure what you are referring to as "Cave man". And do you have any reason to think they were dumb or something?

You do realize that there is NO ANATOMICAL difference between you and a "cave man". Between you and ancient Greek, you and a goat herder 4,000 years ago.

And yet I can't help but think they were smarter than you.

I forgot truth has an expiration date of 100 years.

If you are going to argue for the irrelevance of the New Testament it would be more logical to use a criteria other than age

Explain which part is illogical.

So you concede the age of an assertion has no bearing on it's truthfulness?

Truth can be 100 years or 2,000 years old and still be relevant?

After you concede the previous point, maybe then you can make an argument.

An argument would be the premises, reasoning, and conclusion you feel justified to assert.

You might feel that Christianity is atavistic today, J, but by ancient standards, monotheistic dualism was very advanced. Unlike most polytheism, it imposes an absolute moral order on the world, yet explains why the world is full of cruelty and injustice. It hands to humanity the responsibility of fixing things, yet assures people they're not alone in doing so. That's not a bad mix if you'd like to establish cross-cultural morality (though not the best way to do so.)

The earliest known form of monotheistic dualism can be found among the Zoroastrians, and as a class of theological belief it has been immensely successful, propping up monarchs and emperors as divinely-appointed agents, and benefiting in turn from their colonialism and aggressive expansionism.

Yet you're right that it's outdated. We've learned a lot about our world since such religions were founded, and it's no longer credible that the universe is ordered under any form of morality that humans can understand -- or indeed that humanity is likely to matter at all in the universe's destiny. Essentially, if we want a common morality (and we probably should), we have to create it for ourselves and for any other species likely to appreciate it.

However such thought is very recent -- a few centuries old -- while religion is ancient and permeates every facet of human society.

It takes a while for outdated thought to disappear, and some of it may transform in any case.

Meanwhile, it is cruel and unjust to tell people that the world is bad because of ancestral transgressions, and they're responsible for fixing it. There's a better account, and it leads to better decisions, and people need to know it.

I'm just not clear that one can easily teach such ideas by calling people Neanderthals just because they were raised from childhood to believe in and depend on false ideas.

There might be better ways. :)
