And your point being?

That's zero transitions in 100 million years. At that rate darwinism would have gotten well...nothing.

Which postulate of evolution requires that a spider should substantially change form in this period, or that any change in form should be recognisable to anyone but an arachnologist? What assumption or prediction is refuted?

Talk us through it, Brontling. :)

Let me fill in the gaps and try and interpolate what point you are making. Are you trying to say that because a scorpion hasn't changed in 10 million years that evolution is disproved? If so, what is the logic in making such a conclusion?

The theory that fuels your religion is a fsirytale. Do you believe hooved hyenas became 80,000 pound whales when 100 million year old creatures haven't changed one iota?

That is not entirely true as most of your features encoded by DNA are not visible in a fossil which can only really have bones or the preserved shell of an organism. Body organs, defenses against viruses, and tissue are not fossilized. There is no way to say these animals didn't evolve at all without looking at their old DNA. In fact every animal has 100 mutations so not evolving is impossible.

It doesn't mean it isn't. If we can't a wasp or spider to look like anything other than a wasp or spider in 100 million years, I'm pretty sure we can't get Christy Brinkley from nothing in 500 million.

First of all, none of these articles describe a creature "remaining unchanged for 100 million years". They describe fossilized remains of organisms that in some cases resemble creatures living today. Some species, however, do change slower than others. Some modern sharks, for example, have remained relatively unchanged (at least in terms of phenotype) since the Cretaceous. There is no universal rate by which all species must undergo evolutionary change; rather, this parameter is contingent on a number of other variables that will differ between species. For example, selection pressure and environmental stability will result in some species evolving much slower than others.

If this "argument" of yours is meant to falsify evolution, it is second only to:

"If people evolved from monkeys, why are there still monkeys?"

If a variety of creatures are proven unchangedover hundreds of millions of years, that doesn't leave much time to get Denise Richards from a fungi or an 80,000 whale from a hooved hyena....

Sorry you will never get denise richards from a fungi. Different kingdom.

( but you might get bulpoop)

That is not entirely true as most of your features encoded by DNA are not visible in a fossil which can only really have bones or the preserved shell of an organism. Body organs, defenses against viruses, and tissue are not fossilized. There is no way to say these animals didn't evolve at all without looking at their old DNA. In fact every animal has 100 mutations so not evolving is impossible.

Looks the same to me.

That doesn't mean it is.

It doesn't mean it isn't. If we can't a wasp or spider to look like anything other than a wasp or spider in 100 million years, I'm pretty sure we can't get Christy Brinkley from nothing in 500 million.

The natural selection forces on spiders are much different than the forces on the early apes in the African Savannahs that evolved into humans.

Sure.

We know there are a lot of creatures that have a changed a ton in 100 million years. Hell, mammals and birds didn't really exist as we know them 100 million years ago.
