I was arguing evolution versus creationism and my opponent took an odd turn for a counter argument. Stating that deism is a form of creationism. I was expecting the usual young Earth creationism approach, so I was caught off guard.

I never really asked the most basic question, is deism a form of creationism? Or was my opponent off-topic? Thanks in advance. Below is a link to the debate.

People are always trying to change the definition of words to meet their own needs.

Creationism - (definition) 'the belief that God created all things out of nothing as described in the Bible and that therefore the theory of evolution is incorrect.'

People that think that some god-like being used evolution as a means to create species aren't creationists - they are evolutionists.

Yes deism is a form of creationism as the deist god supposedly created the universe.

Yes, you can't really have one without the other.
