Why is reigion the most popular topic on ddo? Even moreso than politics?

In real life, people talk about politics all the time, but rarely religion. At least that is my experience.

Perhaps it is because it is such a contentious topic that if you talk about it with real people, in the real world, you are likely to lose friends (or your head, if you pick the wrong person to argue with)?

Personally, I don't get it. I don't regard my beliefs "sacred", so that anyone opposing them or expressing an alternative opinion is automatically dubbed evil, or even committing some sort of affront against me.

I think there are just a lot of really stupid people in the religion section, who like to do stupid things because they are too stupid to see how stupid arguing here can be.

I would say.. Religion requires "FAITH" this comes from deep inside so the topic is very central and personal to most people!

Response: Because religion is more meaningful and personal than politics because there is love towards religious figures and God. Not really the case for a politician.

Hmmm... do I feel more love for Trump, or God? That's a tough call.

Politics is not in service to our ego, where as religion is very egotistical.
We offer opinion on politics, but religious belief is owned.
Many people can't disown beliefs simply because they do not possess enough knowledge, curiosity, or skepticism to live without them.

I think you just answered your own question. Religion is a 'tricky' subject for people to discuss in person. People become easily offended. But on line we don't have to worry much about that. The anonymity provides us with an easy place to discuss it without the fear of offending or angering others.

It is more interesting to see atheists going around the religion topic. I assume they come here to defend their religion, the atheism. lol.

Actually we come here to take the piss out of godists and their ridiculous fantasies, cos it's so much fun.
Come on back, it's what we love.

Perhaps a new prescription for your glasses is in order, I never mentioned religion.

It could have to do with the easy scoring system.

Let's face it, when going into a discussion with an Theist, they will always end up with a circular argument that any Theist will see to be completely idiotic thereby giving victory to the Atheist.

On the other hand, when going into a discussion with an Atheist, they will always end up saying that your circular argument is humbug which is just their way of saying that they dont have any arguments themselfes thereby giving victory to the Theist.

No matter what side you are on, you CAN'T LOOSE!

Do I need to see the word religion in your claim? Not at all, it is so obvious.

But I tell you, it is funnier to see atheists barking than religious claiming their beliefs.

Your retorts lack any wit, but do continue I for one am amused by them.
Your reference to paedophilia was well out of place though, be careful.
