Trump has well and truly trumped the pundits and has signaled a new order in American and indeed, Western politics.
Out with the status quo politics of old-fashioned bureaucratic stuffed shirts running the country yet doing nothing much to change it in line with what the people really want.

So now that we are entering a new age of self-realisation and reality it's time to break those draconian shackles of religion that have burdened society for hundreds of years.

Yes, you know you have always had your doubts about what those stuffed cassocks have been trying to shove down your throats and now is the time to enter a new era of freedom, optimism, reality and the "Real Truth".

Give up your religion now and enjoy the new reality of the wonderful world around you.

How on earth the Americans could vote for that evil creep goodness only knows. He is all that is perverted and nasty, in my opinion. It is a very bad day for the world, imo.

That's a thought...My understanding is that Republicans traditionally have the lions share of the Christian vote.

You'd better watch out, though, Donald might put walls around your sacred temples.

He's not that bad surely...so long as he keeps his hands to himself when he's around the British PM and the German Chancellor.

I don't see how electing a fascistic ignoramus like Donald Trump is going to usher in a new age of enlightenment. Very likely it will open the door to another 'dark age' of greed, violence, and horrific anti-humanism.

People don't think that way. They don't care what he says or does they have proven that by electing him. Obama shut out 1/2 the country for nearly a decade. People are just that angry

How, exactly, did Obama shut out half the country? He was able to actually do very little. He couldn't make laws, and he couldn't get the laws he wanted past a republican legislative stonewall. He's mostly been a very nice man who's done very little. Don't you think all this animosity is more the result of media hyperbole than anything Obama has actually done? I do.

Obama made it clear that he had no interest in the rebublican party or its values, He could care less about conservatives. He was the democrats president only. People are frustrated with the political divide that he enhanced to the level that it is at today.

What planet are you on? It is well known the Republicans couldn't stand having a black guy in the White House and did everything they could to stop him. They failed, of course, Obama's numbers are there for all to see and they show progress in all facets of society.

I wonder if the election of Trump and the Brexit vote are to an extent 'protest votes' that got out of hand. What the protest is againt is less easy to identify - a generalised dis-satifaction with the status quo? A sort of collective death wish?

He never once said anything even remotely like this. And he tried to work with republicans many times, only to be turned away by their "we-want-all-or-nothing" response. On the other hand, republicans in both the house and the senate have said publicly many times that they will block any and every proposal by Obama and the democrats, regardless of merit, and they have made good on that promise.

The more Obama tried to compromise, the more the republicans insisted that he give them everything. And at some point he had to say "no more'. How could he have done otherwise? Especially when they were stating out loud that they intended to give him no cooperation on his agenda, at all.

The whole point of government is to reach compromise between opposing agendas. But the tea-publicans abhor compromise. They want everything their way, or they want to burn the house down. Well, now they've done it. They've elected a fascist ignoramus to the office of president in their blind insistence that they get everything their way, or they will destroy the country, trying.

Now, there's an insane, racist misogynist in power who will give you everything you deserve, and more. You won't like it though and will then complain about how we got here once the sh1t hits the fan.

Spoken like a true liberal media puppet.

Ah, so you have completely ignored all of Trumps scandals over the past year? It is his words that show he is an insane racist misogynist.

I personally don't care who is president. Im just visiting

So, you're not an American?

It was the fault of religion we live in the state we're in now. We as human beings are a few hundred years behind where we should be if people didn't think science was the work of the devil way back when and murdered those doing research because it was against the will of god.

Could you please show me where people though science was the work of the devil way back when... It must have been before the Catholic Universities set up across Europe...

But science was invented by the religious. Without us, you would not have science. Science emerge to better understand our religion. Religion is the philosophy of truth. Science is the means to proving this truth. We want to know where we came from. We want to know who we are and where we are going. Without science, I would have not received the answers that have been given to me.
