In Indonesia, the Governor of Jakarta has been named as a blasphemy suspect. His crime? "Insulting the Koran" by saying that his Muslim opponents (he is Christian) were deceiving voters by misinterpreting a certain verse. He later apologized, but that did not stop thousands from protesting and calling for his prosecution.

Such trampling of free speech is good reason for those in the U.S. to be thankful for a secular Constitution that prohibits such nonsense.

Under Indonesian law, it is compulsory to belong to one of six prescribed faiths.

I live in Australia and Indonesia is our closest neighbor yet our languages, politics, cultures, and economies are poles apart.

In Indonesia, anyone who blasphemes other religion will be sentenced to a prison. There was a case where the person was sentenced to 4 years prison due to insulting Hindu belief in Bali.

Excellent, thank you for that. Perhaps then, you could comment on this article...

Hey cung, post #8, quick smart. Don't run away like a cowardly muslim.

I tend to don't buy that such statement.

In Indonesia, anyone who blasphemes other religion will be sentenced to a prison. There was a case where the person was sentenced to 4 years prison due to insulting Hindu belief in Bali.

did you see in England a muslim man converted to Christianity and had to be moved away from where he lived by police escort as his life was at risk.....

No wonder, having jumped from the pan into the fire.

hmm what happened to tolerance....

you seem to think violence towards Christians is understandable and acceptable...

I don't condone violence of any form but let me put it this way...If I see a Muslim beating the crap out of a Christian (or vice versa) I would simply look the other way.

Turning a blind eye to violence is implicitly condoning it.

Then, it should be no problem for you to provide a source so we don't see that as one of the many lies you tell.

As do you Christians to the Muslims. Being a hypocrite comes so easy for you.
