Why is the forum image for "religion" a yellow bell ? I can understand why the "News" topic has the image of a newspaper but why a bell for religion ? Shouldn't Gavin.ogden looking confused be more fitting ? Discuss.

Well it's a church bell innit?
In all fairness I can't really think of a suitably neutral and universal icon that should be used.
I am voting for Innomen because of his intelligence, common sense, humility and the fact that Juggle appears to listen to him. Any other Presidential style would have a large sub-section of the site up in arms. If I was President I would destroy the site though elitism, others would let it run riot. Innomen represents a middle way that works, neither draconian nor anarchic and that is the only way things can work. Plus he does it all without ego trips.

How do you shrink that down to the correct size whilst retaining quality?

one could make it the religious emblem of whatever group currently is the majority of the members on this site according to DDO's statistics here http://www.debate.org... and it could change anytime the statistics change, that way its religious icon is only biased DDO'ers.

plus even you want to avoid that religions imagery cause it dosent represent everyone faith and personal beliefs, is it fair to say that it does represent the most common religion of topic that forum threads are created to discuss some aspect of it, for or against?

You are correct, Dawkins smug face would be the only apropriate icon.

you could have hands clasped together, you know, prayer.

It would offend the nonreligious... It's a good idea to me though.

Yea... I am literally incandescent with rage at the thought I might be subjected to an image that implies prayer!

I suppose that a letter "G" and a "?" would do well.

I think the image of a guy wearing a robe would fit well.

Doesn't like every religion require a guy in a robe to be considered an official religion?

Even atheists can agree that at least some of them wear a robe after they take a shower.

He doesn't even have to look confused, we can draw two black lines symbolizing eyebrows on top of the pic.
