This guy lived until just three years ago, so he got to see his predictions come true. I would say that robotics will probably end up achieving his goal of long-distance brain surgery.

I'll just use this as a future thread. This guys starts out kind of whacko, talking about star trek and star wars, but his conclusions at the end are impressive and hard to deny at some fundamental level. However I would personally make one change to his hypothesis. Instead of type 3 civilizations contacting type 0s and 1s, it seems to me to make more sense that type 3s propagate themselves and create them instead. Robots filled with bacteria seem to make the most sense as far as how life started on Earth. I'm becoming less and less convinced that life started out here by chance mixtures of chemicals or something like that. Anything that happens by chance in a limited amount of time ought to be easily reproducable by now.

Here's the second guy again (the physics professor). I like what he has to say even if it is a bit presumptuous. Just like Arthur C. Clark he is predicting the future, however it's so much farther into the future it's hard to say whether he could be as acurate.

lol it's .../aliensexist/

I believe it's meant to be aliens exist and not alien sexist. But that would be a good topic for the society forum...
