My girlfriend is pregnant, so of course I'm reading all about embryonic and fetal development.

What this phrase ("ontogeny recapitulates phylogeny") refers to is the observation that elements of the physical anatomy of animals which developed earlier in our evolutionary history develop earlier in the embryo and fetus. Things like the spinal cord and kidneys, which are present through out huge sections of the animal kingdom and developed relatively early in the evolutionary chain, develop very early while the human cerebrum, which has only existed for a tiny part, develops quite late.

Amazing.

no fun.
I find myself intrigued by your subvocal oscillations.
A singular development of cat communications
That obviates your basic hedonistic predilection,
For a rhythmic stroking of your fur to demonstrate affection.

Well the more I look into this, the more I see that while it's disproven as a method of prediction, it is still generally true.

"Haeckel's theory of recapitulation collapsed under the ever-increasing weight of slowly accumulated exceptions—particularly of larval adaptations and paedomorphosis."

It was not a scientific theory which collapsed. It was a fraud which has been used to teach evolution to generations of students and convince them about its truth.

Incidentally, Haeckel was as popular as Dawkins once. Here is one of his great quote.

"On one side spiritual freedom and truth, reason and culture, evolution and progress stand under the bright banner of science; on the other side, under the black flag of hierarchy, stand spiritual slavery and falsehood, irrationality and barbarism, superstition and retrogression..."
The Holy Quran 29:19-20

See they not how Allah originates creation, then repeats it: truly that is easy for Allah.

Say: "Travel through the earth and see how Allah did originate creation; so will Allah produce a later creation: for Allah has power over all things.
