"The current best fit model is a flat \3;CDM Big Bang model ..."

Someone want to put that into English?

The current best fit model is a flat 'lambda'CDM Big Bang model...

I think Subutai is best poised to answer that. Check out Lawrence Krauss's video 'Unibverse from Nothing', which goes some way to explaining the geometry & inflationary theory (which explains what is meant by 'flat'), ignoring the further speculation on what the cause it might be.

I have read it, I was trying to add a post NOT about evolution! :)

That just means that there is some sort of cosmological constant, along with the existence of dark matter as part of the big bang theory itself.

Wikipedia has a nice page on the lambda-CDM model. Basically, it's the standard big bang model combined with inflation, and its predictions match observations well without excessive parameterisation -- or in other words, it's the most accurate simplest model of the universe. http://en.wikipedia.org...
