Since survival of the fittest is less of a mechanism now; as we help those who would not survive, and don't let them perish, are we still evolving?

Sure are! The environment has changed, that doesn't necessarily mean fitness won't be affected (not that that is the sole requisite anyway) nor that mechanisms that allow change are defunct.

Your question should be "What will the conditions in which humans will live be in the future?". Once you get that answered, you'll know what we'll evolve into.

Uhm...yes? Of course we are. We may not be evolving in the same way, that's the only difference. It's changing the factors that get selected for, and giving just about everyone (in the wealthy countries at least...kind of the opposite for the poorer countries) a better chance of reproduction. This might actually cause more genetic diversity, which is both good and bad, depending on what's being more diverse exactly.

Since the beginning of agriculture, we've gotten smaller jaws, crowded teeth, less bone strength, shorter (except recently because of better health, for some people), shorter heads, and probably some other stuff.

That's just in the 10,000 years since the beginning of agriculture, now take the rapid changes not even every decade but every year in the modern world. The agricultural-based trends will probably continue but perhaps at a faster rate (since we are eating even more processed foods and putting even less stress on our bodies, etc), but beyond that I couldn't say.

As a side note, let me point out that we've been helping people survive who otherwise wouldn't for a very long time. Obviously we've been doing it since we've been "human", and there's evidence we've done it since the time of the Turkana boy (1.5 mya).

I never said they were just as effective, but that we have been effective at prolonging life for a long time. But your statement insinuated we simply weren't effective at all at it before modern medicine, and that simply is not true.

I'm hoping they perfect the kind of evolution they had in Bioshock. That game was flipping awesome.

In the future everyone will be more attractive because attractive people are more likely to have children.

Gradually, humans will become more attractive as those that aren't are less likely to get laid.

ANOTHER PREDICTION

Even in this modern age there are many civilizations that still do rely on traditional "fitness" to survive. This should result in human kind branching off in two completely different directions.

Freedo, all you're doing is listing off ideas that you have neither thought about too much, nor do you know anything about. Stop now.

Nah, being attractive doesn't equal being more promiscuous and even the butt ugly can get laid. Everyone apart from adolescent INTJ loners is getting laid (joke!)

What we have now is survival of the friskiest and of the least likely to use birth control.

Maybe we will all slowly evolve into Catholics lol.

No, they make sense. Either refute them with an actual sensible reason or GTFO.

It was the impression you gave.

"we've only really become effective at it recently though :P"

"really become effective" is different from "become really effective", the former doesn't mean less or more when you place it there.

Miscommunication, apparently.

Otherwise, any number of things, depending how technology goes.
