What are the moral and ethical dilemmas this research struggle upon?

From a secular view, there is no dilemma. This is especially true since the positive effects of the research should vastly outweigh the supposed ethical problems. The betterment of humanity should come far before someone's religious views. It does not infringe upon their personal beliefs in any way whatsoever.

I don't see how anyone who actually understands the process of embryonic STEM cell research can oppose it. All the blastocytes/embryos used for research are donated by In-Vitro Fertilization clinics; if they weren't donated, they'd just be destroyed. They never had any FLO or potentiality, which knocks out pretty much all legitimate moral criticisms. STEM cell research makes maximal use of those doomed embryos and produces substantial benefit to humanity in the process.

Since God created stem cell research, I'm cool with it.
