Most people here I think are aware about several studies that indicate dolphins, whales, and etc., essentially mammalian sea animals, have a fairly high level of intelligence, extending to cognitive self-awareness, basic counting and numeracy skills, ability to solve complex problems, the ability to feel the basic range of emotions that humans feel, and the list goes on. Not as high intelligence as humans, to be clear, but very smart.

This Wiki article goes over a lot of the evidence and studies, and if you're really interested, the sources are very interesting indeed: http://en.wikipedia.org...

So, the basic question is: what level to cetaceans exhibit intelligence, and should, like some have said, any rights be extended to them on the basis of what intelligence they do possess?

we already do that with many animals... we kill coyotes, wolves, foxes, mountain lions, bears, etc... etc.. For their Actions.

if one attacks someone in an area.... people go out to kill it.

ya was thinking that.... but its more an issue of protection than actually holding them responsible. its not like they wanna make that coyote suffer for its actions or expect it to repent. they just wanna stop it from being able to hurt any more humans.

In my opinion... That's the only good reason for executing People too.

I think it was Volkov's turn at being high and starting threads. This doesn't sound like one of his.

It may have been before you came on or were active, but I started a lot of threads, especially in the Science category, on differing subjects. I also used to post in the Religion thread a helluva lot, until I got exhausted with the incessant stupidity that came out of it.

I don't care what your view on animal rights is - that guy, in some way, needs to be locked up. Possibly in the nearest mental institution, because if he did that for "sexual thrill," he's one f*cked up dude.

Well, for one, it's my thread, and I had to check on it eventually.

Two, I usually stalk the forums for interesting conversation whenever there's nothing on TV, which is the majority of the time. If I see something concerning myself or Canada or what have you, I pounce on it, since those two subjects I think I know more about than anyone else here.

Nope, just good ol' fashioned forum stalking.
