Do you think the science forum can be fixed or at least improved? Obviously there is an overflow of crackpot science and religion infecting the forum.

If you think it can be fixed/improved, how do you think this can be done?

You mean censor the posts. Maybe an agreement that no post will be made that goes against the established rhetoric of the majority of the scientific community?

I agree let's kill the science forum

It can be fixed easily, but those in control here have no intention of putting any resources into doing so. There are plenty of good science forums on the net, each with similar working models that are successful and simple to deploy.

Denials of science based on ignorance and incredulity are not posts that go against the scientific community, they are just ignorant denials.

I agree let's kill the science forum

You and your religious ilk have already accomplished that feat.

Looking throughout the science forum history, it seems that it is getting worse, hopefully we can change this.

Threads about real science tend to be six posts linking to interesting articles on the www. A 'fixed' forum might be a very dull forum with nothing but links

If you think it can be fixed/improved, how do you think this can be done? :

Finally, of course it can be fixed. Lets not allow religious posts in the science forum, like un-evidenced make-believe stories claimed as science!

For example here is a common unscientific story posted quite often:
"A long, long time ago before time, in a point in space before space, there was "speck" getting denser and hotter for absolutely no apparent reason, yet it Big-banged. Not a 'blip' which would make a little more sense for children, you know, because it's teeny-tiny size, No, .. they say it was a "Big Bang!"

I mean hellooo, .. did anyone actually witness this before time and space event, or has ANYONE replicated such an event where we could accept it as being science? .. NO.

No, because it happened aahhh, ,.. like 13 million, .. billion, .. trillion years before any of us existed. Yep, .. it did, you just have to have some really "blind-faith" and NOT ask questions like: "What was there before the speck Big-Banged?" or "What is speck expanding INTO?"

THEN, they post a bunch of stories within their 13.75 billion year story which claim is NOT related, yet it is the most important part of this 13.75 billion year long story, which they call "Evolution" That a rock gave birth into some primordial muddy soup to a single celled bacteria.

Using this crazy Big-Bang story as a premise, they create insulting posts, where they call us humans created in Gods image; animals. I mean how does a good site like this put up with that?

And not just any animal like a cute Panda-bear or something which would be less insulting, but call us apes, those ugly, hairy dumb apes, and to top it off, they call our "not so distant cousins and relatives" rats! How dare they? Especially after millions and millions of people were already killed, murdered, many tortured to death after being labeled rats. They call this Taxonomy, when we have record of Adam having completed all the taxonomy on all the animals, and he NEVER confused no dirty, poop-eating hairy ape with a human.

So yes, let's try and keep it a science forum, with actual theories built on observation and experimentation. NOT staring at a couple of fossils and write some really crazy stories on how one species like a lizard fossil slooowly evolved into that bird fossil.

Again no evidence, no one ever witnessed such a thing, and on top of that, these so called Evolution-scientists are not even looking for such a thing, where we have to take like that traitor to humanity Reverend Dawkins word for it or he'll start threatening your job!

https://www.youtube.com...

I mean if we let this go on, soon someone might come up with the scientific Evidence for God, and they will try to throw such observed and verified evidence in the religious forum. Yep, that will happen unless we keep these sci-fi fantastic storytellers from taking over.

It's bad enough they dressed a man up as a woman to show the world they have absolutely no regard for God our Creator and His laws in nature!

Then they used this same kind of logic, this New-Age Taxonomy and they labeled him "Woman of the Year!"

Is that science? Has any scientist ever claimed observing an ape, or a chimp or a bare-but baboon turn into a human? Is dressing up a man in women's clothes and panties now classifies him being labeled a "woman"?

Once we turn our heads and allow these religious self proclaimed animals take over science, one day they will create a demonic organization that will claim to be a scientific organization and call it 666CERN or whatever and build 3 Large Hadron Colliders as Temples in a big circle in the shape of three 6's, .. and start doing the Kali Death Dance to science in worship.

I'm telling you good people here, it will happen!

News update: Too late,, .. now all scientists can do is dance the Kali Death Dance, in mourning the death of science, or any search for the truth, because 666CERN has taken over.

R.I.P. science, let's all say hello to 666CERN, the first 6LHC Temple, INTEL and Lady GaGa, Big-bangs in nothing, humans as animals, bestiality, legalized incest, and yes, child sacrifices. OR, take science back as defined.

Tis better to stare at a couple of fossils then to stare at a book written in English, translated from Greek, Hebrew, Aramaic and Latin (3 times because, some people were not happy with the first 2 translations), extensively re-edited and omitting certain texts for various reasons (which may or may not include contradictions in said book) and all done by mere mortals...

There are several problems with a "debate" science forum:

1. You get a host of questions/topics that can easily be resolved by just googling for an answer. These are boring to address.

2. If you get to legitimate areas of science in which there is room for debate, it is advanced enough that all you really get is people who don't fully understand the topic throwing out their ideas.

3. This leaves people who completely reject the basis of science (religious) who just spout off their ignorant ideas and there is no way to truly debate these people because there is no common basis between a scientific and fundamentalist religious world view.

4. You get people for whom science is a sort of religion, a condition often referred to as 'scientism'. Such people can often be identified by their haste to resort to ad hominem, such as attributing any dissent to religious views. (see #3, for an example)

To cut to the chase - evolution is NOT 'advanced enough', as in #2 above. The hypothesis is extremely detailed of course, but the science itself remains painfully simplistic - stuff happens, and the stuff we see today is the stuff that continued to happen.

BTW - my non-partisan thought would be - complaints like this are misguided. If you want to talk science, talk science. Nobody is stopping you. If a thread gets flooded with junk, then you need moderation (ads, for instance), but the best way to deal with boring conversations is to start an interesting one.

And it's "debate.org". Disagree is what we do here.

Thank you for supporting my "point" with your defensive religious "one-liner" all here on the science forum too.

Aahh, .. awesome!

Hey Moderators, we should make a "point system" or at least a "like" under each post, showing who "like's" it. Or is that hard to do?

Thanks v3nesl, and Moderators.

There are several problems with a "debate" science forum:

1. You get a host of questions/topics that can easily be resolved by just googling for an answer. These are boring to address.

Like the Big-bang theory and the Evolution theory, since these are already atheistic facts approved by the One World Religious Order 666CERN, as all the prayers go out towards 6LHC.
Facts, .. boring, right? Make-believe is more fun.

Like this for instance:

I believe "we" understand the "idea" behind it, right v3nesl?

What; "There is no common basis between a scientific and fundamentalist religious world view" ??

Sure there is, it is called BB-Evolution, they have created a common basis with religion and science, .. actually it is where science is completely embalmed in religion where "fact" is based on fantastic stories of "long, long time ago before time, .. in a point in space before space." and are expanding this story into "nothing" where nothing is now "Infinite".

OOooowwiee! Beat that Believers with your talking donkey story!?

Right, we can't. That's One Big-banger even miracles couldn't beat.

Do you think the science forum can be fixed or at least improved? Obviously there is an overflow of crackpot science and religion infecting the forum.

If you think it can be fixed/improved, how do you think this can be done?

This is a perfect example of how people don't get science. You take observations such as the CMB and develop hypothesis to possibly explain what saw. Then future observation see how the fit in which causes it to be confirmed, adjusted, or abandoned.

There are two types of posts that simply derail any discussion. First like this is the equivocation of Science to religion on the premise that it is made up and imaginary like this post. Second is the appeal to complexity and the idea that nothing very complex can arise without intelligence, which is also in this post.

Rather than getting into discussions on the merits of a hypothesis we hear these two arguments consistently and without pause. It is exhausting.

In the meantime science keeps pumping out great work and findings that chips away at our lack of understanding of the world around us.

I think there are some healthy changes that can be made which don't censor the majority of people.

On many forums, it is not uncommon to see a post 'moved' from one subforum to another based upon certain criteria. This could help the science forum tremendously.

Example: John316 posts a highly religious post into the science section. It has some relation to science, but it mostly concerns itself with religion.
Mod Action: Move to Religion subforum.
Reasoning: This post is better suited for the religion subforum.

Example: 1847174 posts an ad for weight loss pills.
Mod Action: Remove.
Reasoning: This post is spam.

Example: FlatEarth2016 posts about the Earth being Flat.
Mod Action: None.
Reasoning: While not a popular belief, this is a scientific position held by a notable minority of people and, as such, is a relevant topic for discussion.

If we just had a few people who combed through the forums every hour or so, making sure that posts are in their correct place, things would look a lot better.
