lol i doubt the entire population is going to become anorexic anytime soon :P

if by apathy you mean not heeding the ecological consequences of our actions to the point where we literally can no longer survive on earth... i would agree. but i was also say as the end neared it would cause many wars. so lol. you can't have the end of the human race without both!
evidently i only come to ddo to avoid doing homework...

well that's a lot more interesting of a suggestion than my one. but we'll care when it comes time to care.. it's only a small crack on the windscreen now..we'll let it stretch a while :)

i suppose we could fvck it up beyond repair in the apathetic state we're in now though. i suppose i take back my "war i'd say"

That's true.

On the apathetic side, if we continue to destroy the resources of the planet without heed, those resources are not going to be suddenly gone one day. They are going to get smaller and smaller (and eventually disappear). As they get more and more scarce, the demand for them will keep growing and growing, and once demand gets high enough, people will be willing to fight and kill for them (meaning go to war for them).

All in all, both are tied together. I personally don't see a senerio where there is a war and 2,000 nuclear bombs are dropped to kill every human.

It won't be all that long before we run out of oil.

I don't think most people realize just how FVCKED we are going to be when we run out of oil.

Nearly everything you take for granted relies on oil in some way.

There is going to be mass starvation.

Get used to the idea of eating other people.

Apathy.

For war will go on as long as there is apathy.

Global apathy would be along the lines of mandated marijuana use, or similar distraction.

Global apathy would mean there is nothing that is worth fighting for, and no wars.

I don't think there will be global apathy as long as you have groups of people who are DEAD FVCKING SERIOUS.

We will run out of cheap oil in about 40 years. There's around 5 times as much oil in shale etc, but it is costly to harvest.

This is a very serious post. I thought you don't take things seriously? And if you DON'T take this issue seriously, you gotta be fvcked in the head.

However, there is no shortage of oil. When you get an oil change, they keep the oil and turn it into reusable oil.

lol

I don't think it's a shortage of engine oil in particular Geo. Is the oil in the petrol (gas) that you burn re-usable?

Oil destination does not create more oil. It is separation.

Even recycled paper requires new trees mixed with the old to sustain demand.

Sure, if you quote half of it, it looks serious.

I don't think there is anything fvcked in the head about understanding the futility of my actions. This line from the serenity prayer sums up my thoughts...

"God grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference."

You can only mentally prepare yourself for such an event if it happens at all.

However, there is no shortage of oil. When you get an oil change, they keep the oil and turn it into reusable oil.

I'm talking about crude oil. Petroleum.
