Besides the natural way a word sounds, psychologists think that we seem to associate certain personas with certain names based on people who are famous.

I'm going to post a list of names. I would like you to point out two names(for male and female) which you find most attractive, two which you find least attractive, two which you find most successful, two which you find least successful, two which you find most lucky and two which you find least lucky. Please just go with your gut feeling. You can pick the same name more than once for different categories, besides opposing ones. After some people have given their opinions I will compare the results with a study(except that I have added more names to the list here, including names of usual DDO users).

Female names:
Laura
Sophie
Jane
Heather
Susannah
Grace
Emma
Danielle
Julie
Emily

There is a girl at school here whose name is Lexi, and we had a foster child named Alexis, who sometimes went by Lexi.

I went with my gut, but if there was bias I think it comes from people with those names I might know in real life and not celebrities. Also there might be bias from names I like vs. names I don't.

Attractive:

Danielle (this is the only name from the list I like...)
Emily
James
Andrew

Unattractive:

Elizabeth
Sarah
Mark
Robert

Successful:

Lisa
Rachel
James
Kevin

Unsuccessful:

Lexi
Lucy
Cody
Felix

Lucky:

Caroline
Olivia
Jack
William

Unlucky:

Amanda
Jane

Kind of odd you say that; I had a dude in my school when I was younger named Dennis Brandon (one letter would be changed from this) and he was one ugly S.O.B.
