The Senate passed a bill (as part of the National Defense Authorization Act) on December 1st that allows INDEFINITE DETENTION (by the military) of any US CITIZEN without TRIAL. This bill is throwing out our Amendment to have the right to a trial and due process of law.

Here's some links on the matter:

This is aweful. What advantages could this possibly have?

I knew about this since it happened. SOPA also passed on Tuesday night.

Obama really HAS to veto it if he wants to be reelected. Of course, Congress may just pass it anyway, but still...

The thing about this is that even giving the government the POTENTIAL to do this is outrageous. Who knows what kind of corrupt people will come along and find a way to use it to their advantage.

This bill bypasses Amendments set up to protect us!!!

I do not want to live in a country where anyone in the military can come arrest me for LIFETIME for any reason that they see fit.

Sounds like a sneaky way to allow Martial Law to take place. Wonder why that would be happening.... any takers???

Yeah, I've been meaning to comment on this. Scary sh*t, and I hardly see how it's legal given Habeas Corpus. I'm definitely signing the petition, and I will post on Facebook too.

Famous last words. Read the bill and see the provisions contained therein. It's literally jaw-dropping.

Any choice sections, because, not to sound lazy, but wading through an ENTIRE bill isn't at the top of my list. I mostly skim.

Same old same old, doesn't matter who is in office. Next election will be the same old same old no matter who wins. The erosion of personal liberties will continue and the state will get bigger and you will become smaller. No surprise to me.
It's not your views that divide us, it's what you think my views should be that divides us.

If you think I will give up my rights and forsake social etiquette to make you "FEEL" better you are sadly mistaken

If liberal democrats would just stop shooting people gun violence would drop by 90%
