Ok, so obviously all the stuff Discordians do gets bland after awhile from being too predictably unpredictable and ridiculous. So this time I'm actually going to attempt to be as serious as possible (at least in the rest of the thread from this point on).

At first, I thought it was another Discordian trick. Something to joke about. Stephen Colbert being canonized as a Discordian saint and claiming that he is, in fact a Discordian. And they say there is evidence to support this like clues in his videos. But then I actually took a look at the evidence and--holyshit--it's actually pretty convincing.

Lets take a look at this:

http://www.colbertnation.com...
The story starts here. July 24, 2007. Stephen Colbert requests admission to the Illuminati. At the end of the video he recites the phrase "Ewige Blumenkraft" which orginated in the Discordian text "The Illumintus! Trillogy", written by Robert Shea and Robert Anton Wilson, two Discordians.

http://www.colbertnation.com...
Starting about 3:10 of the very next episode, he brings up the story of Eris, a story so obscure that the audience notably can't figure what's funny about it, and even puts out the Apple of Discord in his hand.
Still shot: http://blackironprison.com...

It is clear that he was already in on things in some way before we really got to him. Nevertheless, it all really got started with this:

Discordians organized themselves together(an oxymoron?) during the week of February 17th-23rd, 2008 and sent hundreds of letters to both Stephen Colbert and Jon Stewart. They were given invitation to join the Illuminati and The Discordian Society by inserting a code phrase of their choice, relating to Discordianism, into their broadcast. Many suggestions where given for what phrases to use.

http://www.colbertnation.com...
On February 28, 2008, they received their reply. From Colbert, at least, not Jon Stewart. 00:43 into this episode he slips in a "23 skidoo", which is significant to Discordianism through The Illuminatus! Trilogy. Now, that could obviously be a coincidence, since 23 skidoo is an actual phrase in pop culture, though rarely used for decades. However, there is something pretty funny about it. He uses it in a completely nonsensical way. You see, the meaning of the phrase is essentially "getting out when the gettings good", as you can here: http://en.wikipedia.org...(phrase) . Whereas Stephen uses it in the sentence "Back in the mid-50's when conservative wasn't cool or 23 skidoo". Thus, there was really no point in saying it there, but it's amount of nonsense was subtle enough that most people would never think twice about it. I think it's funny how the audience give a small chuckle about it while, no doubt, not knowing what it means.

http://www.colbertnation.com...
April 2, 2008. At 00:48 he brings up the eye and pyramid on the back of the dollar bill. At 3:55 he brings up lasers mounted on dolphins, which is again straight out of the Illumintus! Trilogy. He also slipped an fnord into the video but it's not worth pointing it out to you. Also, I noticed this video is 5:55 long, but that's just synchronicity.

http://www.colbertnation.com...
April 21, 2008. The segment opens up with a crew member eating an apple while Stephen talks about the pope. Later, Stephen complains about not being a saint. Then suggests that the pope be made fallible and everyone else infallible so we could just forgive him, rather than the other way around.

http://www.colbertnation.com...
May 29, 2008. Stephen makes a jokes about the shape of Michigan changing from the shape of a mitten to an angry mitten and depicts a picture of Michigan giving the middle finger. Both a pair of mittens and a pair of mittens giving the middle finger are emoticons on the popular Discordian forum http://www.principiadiscordia.com... .

http://www.colbertnation.com...
July 17, 2009. Stephen has a segment on The Bohemian Grove which is littered with obscure code-words like "cabal-ready" that only a Discordian would get.

http://www.colbertnation.com...
November 9, 2011. Stephen indirectly invokes the Law of Fives, straight from the Principia Discordia, while explaining how the number 45 has mystic significance to Herman Cain (In Herman Cain's autobiography, he devotes a chapter to the recurring number 45 in his life). He mentions how the number 45 is related to the number 23, another number with significance to Discordians from the Illuminatus! trillogy. He concluded by saying it's all a democrat conspiracy.

https://twitter.com...
Lastly, to this day, Stephen's wallpaper on his twitter page clearly pictures Illuminati imagery. Here's a screen-cap for those who don't have twitter: http://blackironprison.com...

It's enough to convince me.
And there's no doubt that Stephen's antics has made him a Discordian all along, whether he is or not.

I never really thought it was possible to be a Discordian. But he definitely seems to know of it. Pretty fantastic.

I hear him make a lot of D&D references too. Love that... <3

Of course. The only ones who can be Discordian in any sense apart from which ALL people are called Discordian and at the same time NONE, must be in some sense so miscontrived and unintelligible that only this very person as profoundly Discordian themselves could understand. And in understanding, knowing nothing about it; in knowing nothing; understanding everything.

Surprising and unsurprising..

At first I thought he was a catholic.. But the longer the show went on I figured not.

I wouldn't think any Roman Catholic would think that everything is Chaos or in "discord"

That seems as though it would be disqualifying..

Why would the guys working for Bank of America be at all relevant? o.O

Well, let's look at your argument against Roman Catholics, and apply it to Bank of America employees.

I wouldn't think any Bank of America employee would think that everything is Chaos or in "discord", because they do a job they requires care and as much predictability as possible. If you started, as a bank employee, acting discordian, you would very quickly be fired.

You don't have to believe that Discordianism is the ultimate truth™. You just have to believe that it is true in some sense (and false in some sense, and meaningless in some sense, and true + false in some sense, and true + meaningless in some sense, and false + meaningless in some sense, and true + false + meaningless in some sense).
