Is it racist to say something derogatory about a race, if it's true?
I cannot write in English, because of the treacherous spelling. When I am reading, I only hear it and am unable to remember what the written word looks like."

Probably, if not for any other reason because it is still a generalization. Of course, if you don't use this info as a basis for any action, it is probably not racist.

It is also equally as racist to say something positive about a race, too, if it's true.

What if its not derogatory, like 'Asians are really good at math'? I mean we all know its true.

Equally racist. The question is, is it actually racist to say/think it?

Not by definition.

Racism is holding that some races are inherently better or worse than others. It is possible to say something derogatory without having to hold that view. Likewise, whether something is true or not has no baring on if it is racist or not.

IT is because a single person is not defined by his race. And a single person does not define a race.

That's false. Just like any such racial generality.

You can say that, statistically, black people are more likely to be better at basketball.

I personally think "racist" and "racism" are regularly misapplied. For example I object to the Islamification of parts of my country - but not based on race. I also object to some African cultures and some that are White skinned.

I invented the word "Culturist" to make this clear - some cultures are abhorrent to me and I am opposed to them and I think that race and culture get mixed, most Muslims in Britain share a darker skin color but I care not about that - it is just coincidence that most Muslims (in the UK) are from that part of the world.

My objecting to Islam has sometimes seen me labelled a "racist" but that is a false accusation, I do not think there is any detectable character difference between people from differing genetic "races" it is their culture, attitudes etc that I evaluate them by and unfortunately that can be misconstrued by some fools as racial discrimination when it is in fact a cultural discrimination - after all what young woman from the UK or US would like to move to a culture that practices female circumcision?

Harry.
