my ex and I were tv show junkies. By that I mean we latched onto a show and watched ALL of it. We proudly navigated through Lost, 24, the 4400. Now that I"m on my own I've been looking for a show to get into after going all the way through Heroes. I think I've found it.

I've been meaning to get into Weeds and now that I'm back into Nexflix, I've decided to take the plunge. Mary Louis Parker is a very pretty gal and I kinda feel sorry for her now that her husband has died and she has to raise her kids alone - except for the fact she's selling pot illegally. and her family is dysfunctional. So is her best friend's family.

I've gone through at least 7 episodes of season one. At this point Nancy (that's MLP's character) has found a man that likes her and she goes to bed with him. But the next morning while putting on one of his clothing she realizes he's a DEA agent. Meanwhile her best friend next door has a daughter that she continually insults by claiming she's fat (she's really not). The daughter is caught smuggling candy in her room and the mom gets even with her by replacing the chocolate with ex lax chocolcate. The kid promptly poops her drawers in school. The daughter gets wind of it and puts Immodium AD in her water bottle (or something like that). yep, like I said, dysfunctional.

Nancy manages to obtain a bakery to sell her pot in secrecy and soon after that it burns to the ground. so now she and her friends have found a house to rent to grow the pot illegally.

Nancy's one son Silas (she has two) has a deaf girlfriend and continually lacks common sense in talking to her. At one point the girlfriend announces she got a scholarship to a East coast university and Silas announces that her being deaf must have helped a lot. She gets angry and leaves, but they do get together long enough for Silas to puncture the condom they are using. The girlfriend becomes pregnant.

yep, like I said, dysfuctional. I'm just glad my family isn't that bad.

This should have been in the Entertainment column, but I'll go on ahead and say that Weeds is one of my all-time favorite shows. Nancy is hilarious, Silas is adorable, Shane's character is probably both the weirdest and the most "moral" of them all (although that doesn't remain to be the case), Andy is a hoot and the rest of the lot are fantastic. The first four seasons and the eighth season were my favorite, btw. Seasons 5-7 get kind of weird...

Weeds was great... very funny and well written, great characters and some memorable moments... Also it's the only show in which I'll willingly sit through the opening credits every time

Oh, Little Boxes (and the chalk-talk thing that accompanies it) is amazing... I especially enjoy the alternative renditions of it.

yeah I enjoyed the little boxes tune at the beginning plus the ending music sometimes matches what is going on in the script. for instance, when Nancy sleeps with the DEA there's a tune about making a deal with the devil.. rather clever...

If I have a whole season on tap I really struggle to last a week without watching all of it. If it's good of course. I did watch a bit of Weeds, and it was really funny, I'd definitely watch some seasons of it. It was (as usual), one of those shows which had been on for a while, and I never knew when new seasons were coming. So I didn't really get that into it.

I gave up on that show around when the main character got engaged... Granted I was glad I watched all the episodes containing an Olson twin (wish she'd become a cast member).
