Months ago, the Ashley Madison issue was debated over various television broadcasts such as The View and the Tyra Banks Show. For those who are not familiar, Ashley Madison refers to the site that matches married people with other married people for an affair.

Personally, I see nothing wrong with this. This is merely an online business comparable to matchmaker or any other dating website. The CEO of this site has come under heavy heat from liberals and conservatives alike, but what has he really done that is so inappropriate? He is not telling people to cheat on spouses or to come to adultery in the first place. He has created a business that serves a purpose and performs when people come to it. I honestly think it is stupid how people are so ignorant as to believe that this guy is dehumanized or dangerous to the institution of marriage. Hell, he probably makes more than most people that criticize him.

Thoughts?

It's sort of like torrent websites.

Is there legitimate content on there? Perhaps. I don't know. Maybe if you look hard enough. I know I've never used a torrent website legitimately. None of my friends have, either. So, should torrent websites be held liable, when it is clear that their purported reason for existence (to share legal files) is a boldface lie and that torrent website maybe not explicitly but knowingly encourages theft? You be the judge.

Similarly, Ashley Madison is encouraging partners to cheat. He may not say so outright, but we all know that he knows he is. And is this immoral? Yeah, probably. It's certainly not cool.

I think of the guy who set up Ashley Madison like Stanley Milgram and Philip Zimbardo: Friggin awesome for having the guts to show society what it really is.

Don't really like it. Not sure how much I dislike it either, though.
: If you weren't new here, you'd know not to feed me such attention. This is like an orgasm in my brain right now. *hehe, my name is in a title, hehe* (http://www.debate.org...)

Just in case I get into some BS with FREEDO again about how he's NOT a narcissist.

So... what's there to destroy evil inside of and above the constitutional government?

All the attention he received upped his profits, ironically.

Brilliant idea. I wish I'd thought of it.

Same. I kind of thought of creating a website that sets up cougars with young men, but I searched and discovered something else that had the same function. I was going to franchise it with "Cougar Hunting" shirts and a phrase on the back that read, "I'd kill for a cougar right now." A hot woman's tits would be in the "o" and "u" of it. I did more research, and found that "Cougar Hunting" was already franchised.

Not that I know this personally to more easily follow a routine that I perform every night before I go to bed, because such a nation would be totally absurd, more absurd, in fact, than the idea of a square circle, but...

On Firefox, you can do Control+Shift+P, and it goes into Privacy Mode real fast.

I have seen him on TV, he is an excellent and eloquent defender of what he does. I would not be suprised if he was formerly a lobbyist for tobacco or seal clubbing etc.

but what has he really done that is so inappropriate? He is not telling people to cheat on spouses or to come to adultery in the first place. He has created a business that serves a purpose and performs when people come to it.

He invites people to do so, and makes money out of it. Basic human empathy suggests that there should be some sort of concept of taboo, or guilt or shame or something when cheating on a partner. That is before you get into a religious quagmire.

I honestly think it is stupid how people are so ignorant as to believe that this guy is dehumanized or dangerous to the institution of marriage.

I think it is a fairly reasonable conclusion, he clearly does not care for the human costs involved in his business nor for the marriages he has destroyed. He has almost certainly preserved a few marriages, but that would be incidental.

Hell, he probably makes more than most people that criticize him.

How does that relate to the moral arguments against him?

Thoughts?

I think the guy is a Genius, not only does he establish a business that directly caters to human nature, he makes money providing a service that real life and other dating sites provide for free. It's the economic equivalent of making people agree to pay for breathing rights, and for those same people to not realise how they have been ripped off.
I am voting for Innomen because of his intelligence, common sense, humility and the fact that Juggle appears to listen to him. Any other Presidential style would have a large sub-section of the site up in arms. If I was President I would destroy the site though elitism, others would let it run riot. Innomen represents a middle way that works, neither draconian nor anarchic and that is the only way things can work. Plus he does it all without ego trips.

The value of marriage is being smashed. Adultery is becoming simpler and simpler day by day. And to create a website that makes it easier for people to adulterate, not necessarily creating a cause, but simply making it easier, is something the creator should be ashamed of. I condemn all supporting views of this. As a human being, I can never think of looking positively at this.

Yep, that's all he has done. I don't agree with it morally but has the right to run this site.

Found a better comparison: http://crabrevenge.com...

On this website, you can buy pubic lice to "make that b1tch itch." Now, the website claims they are selling this pubic lice for novelty purposes. But come on. We all know what the site is selling: revenge against exes. And it'd be pretty hard to deny it.

And we can all pretty much say that this website is wrong. And so even though the website claims not to be malicious, we all know the intent. And I'd be fine with it being shut down.

Just pointing out that envy of another man's financial wealth is also contributing to the outrage ;)

The shame he earns is more visible than the money. Shame is certainly not something most men envy.

He is not ashamed.

By married people? Maybe. That would be true with or without this site.

We all know what the site is selling: revenge against exes.
How exactly do you give an ex pubic lice? They are your ex.

Maybe against exes to be :P.

That said, pubic lice cause tangible harm that isn't there in the presence of the site. A marriage that can be "ruined" by merely offering the opportunity to cheat was obviously worthless, the same cannot be side of a genital that can be "ruined" by "merely" sprinkling lice on it.
It came to be at its height. It was commanded to command. It was a capital before its first stone was laid. It was a monument to the spirit of man.

He may not feel ashamed, but all the negative things he is doing makes shame cover him too much to make me even think about his money. Ad he should be ashamed over and over again, over and over again, and I can repeat that 100 times.

By married people? Maybe. That would be true with or without this site.
Among those who do it are married people, yes. But he is making it easier to ruin the values of marriage, to ruin family relationships, and to adulterate. I certainly loathe such actions of people.
