For those who haven't heard of it yet (the product isn't expected to be publicly available until mid 2015), Palcohol is (a brand name for?) powdered alcohol.

Just curious what people think about this product in general. Or thoughts about whether the potential risks of misuse (discreet underage drinking, DWI, snorting of the powder, etc...) are reason enough to prohibit sale of such a product. Several states have preemptively banned the product from sale, and at least a few more are considering doing the same.

Personally, I find it interesting, and don't believe it's sale should be prohibited anymore than liquid alcohol.

There are plenty of products that can be potentially misused in powdered form, yet are freely available. Caffeine is the first thing that comes to mind. At least some of the problems you mentioned exist already with regular alcohol (DWI, discreet underage drinking). So I agree that it should be available just like regular alcohol.
