A black family just moved into the duplex 2 houses down from me, and I am concerned that I am going to get burglarized sometime soon. I am as racially-concious as anyone, but wtf????

They had the police over there for some domestic dispute soon after they moved in, and they always have loud bass going in their car and a bunch of hoodlums hanging around the yard. I realize there are good black people out there, but lets face it: there is a disproportionally high percentage of black people that are trouble-makers than other races, as far as I've seen. I don't believe there is anything as far as nature is concerned that causes this (because I am not a racist) but there is definitely something on the nurture side (US culture) that is causing blacks to be so... Predictably unscrupulous.

I feel its just a matter of time before my laptop is stolen so if I disappear from DDO suddenly you'll know why!

Lol at the above. What is it about African Americans and fried chicken, by the way?

Black people in Britain don't go crazy about fried chicken - they normally use West African or Carribean take-away restaurants.

I don't know why you titled this racism...

It's all true that some races have higher crime-rates and such than others but this is not due to any biological reason. Due to people's own racism they have naturally segregated themselves so to have a unique culture. This is why it doesn't apply to everyone.

Slaves weren't allowed to raise more expensive meatbearing animals, but they were allowed to raise chickens.

Fried chicken kept well in hot weather, including while travelling (so after slavery but before the end of segregation, when blacks couldn't get into restaurants but had to eat on the go, the answer was obvious).

I think that's part of the reason he makes such a big show of him liking KFC...

he thinks it's funny.

Stranger things have happened. If they know your work/class schedule and they know when the place will be empty for hours at a time, then it would not be much of a problem.

No. Wikipedia may have but it makes perfect sense. Among other things chicken IS in fact cheaper than beef.

he he

I live and grew up in a very multicultural area and on one street that I lived on where white people were definitely in the minority, the biggest bunch of scallys was a white irish family. They burglarised us and many of their neighbours.

Seriously Rob if they've just moved in then try being friendly, not too much (in case they are genuine scumbags) but just a bit. Greet and smile, maybe share a joint or two, you might find out that they're really nice people. Or if not then they will at least feel a bit wierd about ripping you off and be a little less likely to.

Also lol @ PCP.

I haven't heard about those stereotypes, but those are industrial products, you can't grow them on a farm (hence the lesser prevalence if they are stereotypes).

Nags: Rand Paul would never have this problem in the first place.

Feverish: I've been ripped off both times I've dealt with black people "in the market."

I'm not going to go over there and be nice to them, because niceness is a sign of weakness. I'm much more likely to get burglarized being nice to them. When I was younger I used to be nice but I've learned my lesson. If anything, I have to bring my dog outside more with my shirt off and act like I'm tough so they decide I'm not worth it. Problem is that me and my dog look as tough as scooby doo and shaggy.

Rob, is there anything other than vibes and melanin giving you the impression they want to rob you?

Either way, pack heat. If you trust yourself to keep it under control anyway, I don't want to see you shooting someone without just cause, but if you can, I'm guessing Green Bay is no Stalinist gun-free zone (double check: No license required in Wisconson according to About.com, although there's a waiting period for handguns), and you're 29 years old, so there shouldn't be anything in the way. If there's something other than racism at work here, you're prepared, if there isn't, well, you're a racist, but you're a racist who has a good security blanket while he sorts out his issues :)

I am not a racist

You make two racist statements and then proclaim you're not a racist. Hypocrite.

I am as racially-concious as anyone

That immediately denotes that you or anyone else who says the same, is racist.

As soon as someone first acknowledges that there are different races, identify certain actions with a certain race, and be conscious of your actions toward a different race, YOU ARE A RACIST. That's all it takes and it's sickening that people have clouded stereotypes of people.

There's no legit reason to be concerned about being burglarized. If he's scared to be burglarized because he saw cops at their house, why did he mention that they were black? What does being black have to do with it?

Btw, he also said blacks are "predictably unscrupulous."

Unscrupulous: oblivious to or contemptuous of what is right or honorable; unprincipled; lack of moral standards. - http://dictionary.reference.com...

He says blacks are immoral, dishonorable, unprincipled, and contemptuous of what is right, and then proclaims "I am not a racist." Bulls***!

He says blacks are immoral, dishonorable, unprincipled, and contemptuous of what is right, and then proclaims "I am not a racist." Bulls***!

He then goes into more detail and mentions the fact that blacks tend to be more so. This in no way means that all blacks are more criminal, but data shows more of them are. This has to do with their culture and lifestyle, and isn't racist.
It is odd when one's capacity for compassion is measured not in what he is willing to do by his own time, effort, and property, but what he will force others to do with their own property instead.

Cops?

Bingo.
why did he mention that they were black? What does being black have to do with it?
So adding additional information (that they're black) makes the statement racist? Obama is black, and I think that he is a terrible president. Was that racist?
