Let's just throw an idea around for the fun of it. What if we infuse Nicotine into healthy foods (fruits, veggies, etc) to get people addicted to healthy foods? Nicotine is not really bad for you (other than the addiction it causes). So might this help get Americans out of the french fries and burgers and more into the apples and broccoli?

Wouldn't it be bad for your health in the long-term?

Then again, so would fries and burgers...

While long term does have some negative effects, I believe they are far less dangerous than the effects of obesity, not just for potential cause of death, but on quality of life (which is the only true measure for a successful society).

Nicotine itself is somewhat harmful, it's not totally innocuous. And while GMOs would be more efficient, it may be better to simply process it into the foods, lest the Luddites all go into a frothing rage. The biggest problem with this is that it will basically start an arms race between healthy and terrible food over which one can become the most addictive, and you would end up with a rather Pyrrhic victory (assuming you won at all).
"The Collectivist experiment is thoroughly suited (in appearance at least) to the Capitalist society which it proposes to replace. It works with the existing machinery of Capitalism, talks and thinks in the existing terms of Capitalism, appeals to just those appetites which Capitalism has aroused, and ridicules as fantastic and unheard-of just those things in society the memory of which Capitalism has killed among men wherever the blight of it has spread."

The benefits of consuming healthy food; skin complexion, body fat loss, and various digestive and immune benefits, "should", or even ought to, provide enough incentive to cease the consumption of unhealthy foods and begin consuming ideal foods.
