That may depend on how much you get paid.

Is pornography not equally 'degrading'; yet still legal? The only reason the government maintains it's illegal status is because they can't regulate and tax it efficiently. The government should not be able to dictate how a person uses their body for them if it doesn't directly cause harm to others outside themselves.

I think George Carlin ended the discussion rather resolutely twenty years ago:
"
I don't understand why prostitution is illegal. Selling is legal. Fvcking is legal. Why isn't selling fvcking legal? You know, why should it be illegal to sell something that's perfectly legal to give away? I can't follow the logic on that one at all! Of all the things you can do, giving someone an orgasm is hardly the worst thing in the world. In the army they give you a medal for spraying napalm on people! In civilian life you go to jail for giving someone an orgasm! Maybe I'm not supposed to understand it...
"
Beliefs in a nutshell:
- The Ends never justify the Means.
- Objectivity is secondary to subjectivity.
- The War on Drugs is the worst policy in the U.S.
- Most people worship technology as a religion.
- Computers will never become sentient.

I don't think that's important. I mean, a lot of jobs are degrading like working 12h in an assembly chain of a factory ruled by exploiters. That sex is somehow more degrading, is a conservative concept I do not like.

If prostitution is banned, then be it because it is linked with ie slave trafficking, not because it is degrading.

That is a sick answer.

It does cause harm to others. STDS. They pass on that disease to the people that they have sex with.

So, you're saying we should make it illegal for people with STD's to have sex? And you're also assuming that all prostitutes function without contraception?

Why is pornography not illegal then? Do they not pass on STDs? You are being assumptive and generalizing.

I would imagine being a high class escort who manages their own clients for a significant fee would feel much more empowered than someone giving out handjobs at a truck stop and giving a good chunk of the cash to their pimp.
