What do you think a contract is?

What do you think marriage is?

Does marriage fall within the general category of "contracts"?

Well you do promise that person, to love and to cherish them for the rest of your life. Aren't those words considered a contract anymore?
Unless your one to not keep a promise, then I concede it isn't a reliable "contract"

Sounds like a business agreement.
What do you think marriage is?

A covenant.

Does marriage fall within the general category of "contracts"?
Not in my mind.

Does marriage fall within the general category of "contracts"?

It was, back in the 1800's! its now a meaningless piece of paper, that cheaters and spouse abusers use for toilet paper-- with divorce rates at the highest ever- why bother? if your a guy, you are gonna lose 1/2 of your stuff- and if your a girl, there's always a better man waiting for ya, and with each divorce, your only 1 step away from your "soul mate" -- :P

I think it is. You are legally obligated to each other. And there may be consequences for not sticking to the commitment.

What do you think marriage is?

Marriage is a commitment.

Does marriage fall within the general category of "contracts"?

Yes
