I wanted to simply start a discussion on the subject. Much of human history has been both repression and exaggeration of female sexuality, it's difficult to understand just what female sexuality in it's most natural form is.

"During shots of lesbian coupling, heterosexual women reported less excitement than their vaginas indicated; watching gay men, they reported a great deal less; and viewing heterosexual intercourse, they reported much more. Among the lesbian volunteers, the two readings converged when women appeared on the screen. But when the films featured only men, the lesbians reported less engagement than the plethysmograph recorded."

"She wrestles, for the moment, with the preliminary bits of perplexing evidence she has collected — with the question, first, of why women are aroused physiologically by such a wider range of stimuli than men."

"In women, though, the main difficulty appears to be in the mind, not the body, so the physiological effects of the drugs have proved irrelevant. The pills can promote blood flow and lubrication, but this doesn't do much to create a conscious sense of desire."

"For the discord, in women, between the body and the mind, she has deliberated over all sorts of explanations, the simplest being anatomy. The penis is external, its reactions more readily perceived and pressing upon consciousness. Women might more likely have grown up, for reasons of both bodily architecture and culture — and here was culture again, undercutting clarity — with a dimmer awareness of the erotic messages of their genitals. Chivers said she has considered, too, research suggesting that men are better able than women to perceive increases in heart rate at moments of heightened stress and that men may rely more on such physiological signals to define their emotional states, while women depend more on situational cues."

"Genital lubrication, she writes in her upcoming paper in Archives of Sexual Behavior, is necessary "to reduce discomfort, and the possibility of injury, during vaginal penetration. . . . Ancestral women who did not show an automatic vaginal response to sexual cues may have been more likely to experience injuries during unwanted vaginal penetration that resulted in illness, infertility or even death, and thus would be less likely to have passed on this trait to their offspring." Evolution's legacy, according to this theory, is that women are prone to lubricate, if only protectively, to hints of sex in their surroundings" (explaining arousal even during sexual assault)

I'm not really trying to make any argument or assertion, I'd just like a discussion to get my thoughts flowing on the matter. It's a subject that fascinates me and apparently other women.

I think I actually heard about that but it was one of my friends (pervy guy) just told me "Hey I have some girl on girl porn....also I heard that it turns girls on more than guys, should test that out" So i disregaurded it and kicked him where it hurts.

Although after seeing that there was maybe something more than him wanting to watch porn with me, I have to say its actually interesting.

Yeah I thought I'd like it. It was in my mom's room (late night babysitting, like 3 am). It was prolly just a really crappy one. Whatever the case, I didn't like it.

That's a real shame, because they are missing out on a lot of fun.

And I'm sure their boyfriends wouldn't mind if they invited a gorgeous young French girl over to make up a threesome.

I'm not bragging (okay I am) but this happened to me when I was going out with a Korean girl.

Unfortunately, my girlfriend got jealous of me and Mireille having fun together (that wasn't part of the deal, apparently) and the she knocked the whole caboodle on the head and, after that, she only invited her round when I wasn't there.

It means women are either repressing their sexuality, lying to others about it, or genuinely have a disconnect between their bodies and their minds when it comes to sex. All three possibilities are sad.

So, women could actually be more hypersexual than men--they've just been culturally molded into repression. Or, as the scientist in the article theorizes, it's a defense mechanism that's evolved due to rape. Which is very, very telling about how men were in our evolutionary past.

Ah, I see now. The article is pretty clear lol I must have been light-headed yesterday. Well anyway, out of these options the latter seems most plausible. I've gotta be honest -- Most girls I know love sex, and are fairly open about loving sex. I'm talking about straight girls too.

Another fun fact is that compared to my straight girl friends, I don't think I've slept with more people then they have. However, with my lesbian friends, I feel like I have slept with A LOT more women then any of them have (and, to be fair, most of the girls I've slept with have been "straight" lol). This is interesting because we know that lesbian couples tend to pair up right away -- I love the joke "Lesbians are like stamps: once you like em, they stick" lol. So true.

Lesbians tend to stay in (and cling to... even too much, after a break-up) monogamous relationships. So, I think from my personal experience I've noticed straight girls being a lot more, uh, slutty and getting around then my gay friends. Also, I guess what I'm saying is that I think in our culture straight girls are having a lot of sex (more than in the past); however, the stigma about them being a "sl*t" is still kinda there.

So, women could actually be more hypersexual than men--they've just been culturally molded into repression. Or, as the scientist in the article theorizes, it's a defense mechanism that's evolved due to rape. Which is very, very telling about how men were in our evolutionary past.

Eh, I think it's a stretch to say that women are more sexual then men. I think in SOME cases that may be true (as there are exceptions to everything) but generally men are still a lot hornier. There have been studies though that show because lesbians overall are more confident in every way (including sexually) that lesbians have good and healthy sex lives. Since their sex life is "taboo" in itself then it makes them more comfortable to experiment I think (that's my theory anyway).

But yeah, I TOTALLY believe we've evolved even physical defense mechanisms to rape. And you say "evolution" like rape is such a thing of the past. Meanwhile, the number of girls who have been sexually assaulted (rape or otherwise) is DISGUSTINGLY high. I'm talking like 1 in 4 or something crazy like that. Has any girl here not been sexually assaulted or harassed hardcore? I highly doubt it.

The best statistics I've found say 1 out of every 6 American women has been the victim of an attempted or completed rape in her lifetime... you think 1/6 is a small number, PoeJoe? It's smaller then 1/4 but I said that I estimated. Either way 1/6 is still way too high.

Here's the math. According to the U.S. Department of Justice's National Crime Victimization Survey -- the country's largest and most reliable crime study -- there were 248,300 sexual assaults in 2007... 1 assault every 2 minutes. And 90% of the victims are women obviously.

It means women are either repressing their sexuality, lying to others about it, or genuinely have a disconnect between their bodies and their minds when it comes to sex. All three possibilities are sad.:

Why is it necessarily sad? It may be normal, and from my perspective, it appears that way. Most women just doesn't ripen until they hit their late 20's - early 30's. For whatever reason, women tend to lose their inhibitions later in life and begin to really understand their own bodies much later. And then it's nothing but Cougars on the prowl. Older women are so much better in every way (personal preference).

So, women could actually be more hypersexual than men--they've just been culturally molded into repression. Or, as the scientist in the article theorizes, it's a defense mechanism that's evolved due to rape. Which is very, very telling about how men were in our evolutionary past.:

Well, there certainly is a double-standard for males and females. That's slowly changing, but old social mores are difficult to get rid of. When I was a teenager I was allowed to have sex with girls in my room. My parents didn't care. My older sister, though? No, never.

As for rape in the past, if you'll notice how animals of lower intelligence procreate, the males doesn't exactly ask. Even in primate society they just kind of f*ck wherever, whenever. The thing is, we don't consider it "rape" because it is the animal kingdom, and that's how their world operates. In human society, it is simply unacceptable on all levels. But there may be an evolutionary throwback in there perpetuating it.
