Sexism in the movie "I Am Sam?"

I watched the movie "I Am Sam," and it's about how a mentally handicapped man becomes a father when he impregnates a homeless woman he was sheltering.

Everyone puts the blame on him. They act like he raped her. They give him dirty looks and say "It's too late to apologize for this. It's your fault. You got this woman pregnant. Take the blame."

Yet he is mentally challenged, therefore unable to consent and know what he is really doing.

I believe that this is because since society believes that rapists are only men, they have to accuse Sam of raping the woman, even if he is unaware of what he is doing.

I'm not at all saying that the woman should be blamed. I'm simply saying that Sam should not have been accused of raping her just because he's a man, and the woman regretted the sex.
