So in the case of national security should we make a Sparta within our boarders? I know that we can't make it exactly the same (duh!) but basically, should we try and make our country and it's people more.... soldier/ warrior like? Will it improve our health, self defense, encourage gender equality etc? Just something to dwell on and I'd like opinions ASAP

In order achieve the motivation to do that, we need to arm other nations, specifically nations near us, so that they will be a real threat to us.

That'd be useless beyond health benefits. Drones are becoming more and more commonplace in warfare and eventually humans will be more of a hindrance on battlefields than anything.

yeah really?
You think that human soldiers be done away with altogether?

I think men (some men) like war to much for that :-)

What people want is irrelevant. Realities of modern warfare make this fact guaranteed.

Humans may continue to fight each other for recreational purposes, even to the point where it's lethal, but legitimate warfare between nations will, within a few decades or a century, become entirely computerized.

I have no clue what the hell this is even trying to get at.

My theory is that the OP just thinks it'd be cool for the U.S. to turn into a modern day Sparta. I guess that cool trumps practical.
