A teenager who brought a fire arm to a South Dakotan high school was detained by the assistant principle and athletic director, but not before inflicting a flesh wound on the principle following a dispute.

http://abc7chicago.com...

A person on Face Book commented "Willing teachers should be trained to use and carry firearms in their respective classroom. Common sense practice to protect the children."

Would willing teachers bringing in fire arms into the classroom be a viable option to help minimize and deter these events from happening? Couldn't there be issues if student[s] obtain the firearm? If a shooter can be detained without the use of firearms, why should guns be brought into the classroom? Discuss.

As a matter of principle. Teachers should be unarmed

We don't live in a world of principle.
Already many Amercans are armed and guns are readily avalible.
Having travelled down that road we can see the results.
The clock cannot be turned back so teachers should be allowed to carry arms.

Isn't that sad... that we have actually gotten to that point? I think Obama's words on that subject yesterday were pretty enlightening.

Didn't hear them. What were they?
