I just wanna know the history. Why did women wear dresses, and why only women?
Was it practicle? Where/why did it originate?

Well on't see how it could be practical. Dresses are some of the most inefficiant peices of clothing ever.

Most places that require/prefer women to wear dresses also prefer "modesty" in dresses you cover very little and LEAVE A HOLE in the bottom of your clothes that is pretty easy to look up.
Crossing legs, which is required to modestly sit down in a dress, is known to give back problems.
You can't run as fast in dresses.
They get in the way of everything, except if you put cameras looking up, which stores have been known to do.
They usually don't come with any pockets.
Have you ever tried taking one off? Or for that matter putting one on? Not usually easy, and for something so immodest you would expect it to be easier.
They don't keep you warm.
They are easy to tear, and the tear can go from the bottom up unnoticed.

Just a few of the reasons.

Basically, what Tulle said. Ease for access for sex.

Loincloths for men are pretty logical, you need to keep the sack safe and wrapped up. Women don't have the same need. That's why men have trousers, and women usually don't.

Secondly, as Tulle mentioned, ease of access. People had sex like there was no tomorrow, so an ease of access was needed. Men didn't need this same ease of access.

But if you want a proper explanation google it.

I'm talking about the old reasons when women tended to wear dresses past their legs. I'm talking about formal like church. The church I'm sotimes dragged to lets me wear jeans so I'm okay. The easy access part is part of why they are the most horrid peices of clothing ever invented.

In my opinion, I think dresses started because they covered a woman's curves. Pants were too tailored and they would show off a woman's body which would have been seen as "trashy". You can see the slow procession of fashion producing shorter and more tailored skirts as the years and dresses go by...

I remember hearing somewhere that certain clothing such as skinny jeans actually makes it more difficult for women to get raped as they're nearly impossible to get off unless the woman takes them off herself.

Kinda like http://www.1designer-clothing.com...

Totally modest. Makes the most sense tho.

Btw I made it a topic to see how religious peope defend practically forcing women to wear dresses.

I wear so many layers haha The school I go to is notorious for having the hottest girls on campus as well as numerous reported sexual asaults. Some girls wear a whistle, I just wear lots of clothes :p

It works. Who would want to f*ck a nun? Or some chick wearing a high collared dress, that looks like she came from the funeral home? >_<

Its common sense and part of the reason I don't wear completely baggy pants anymore. Same with super short tight shorts.

Yea, I try to avoid revealing clothing as that can often draw the wrong kind of attention.

The dress itself is easy access, just lift and hold. It became a symbol of femininity over time and did indeed hide curves and whatnot when it was sufficiently long and baggy.

I just hate the feeling I get when wearing shorts. I REALLY hate dresses and skirts, I only like t-shirts, hoodies, and pants, but only full length.

I don't wear shorts or skirts either. They make me feel too exposed.
