I'm not giving up going to bars to pick up. It just seems proactive to be making contact with chicks all the time. I can sit in my own filth in my PJs and do it.

It's the same as real-world dating, isn't it. It might be as simple as a bit of a text chat, maybe one date, maybe sex, maybe marriage. It depends entirely on the chemistry.

Online dating sites can be brutal, the woman is in control (well they are to an extent anyway) on account of being a sought after minority. As they get so much traffic it's easy to overlooked... well unless you have a good profile and unlike me you come across as something worthwhile.

But I did meet someone online, not via a dating site but through another forum. I did probably spend about a year chatting with her before we met up. That was pretty cool and well worth it. Before anyone says anything she was an adult and indeed older than myself... thank you.

Of course I am passed all that now!

So anyway go for it. Sure you might meet an absolute psycho that will torture you in her underground bunker... but that could happen with any method of dating!
I am voting for Innomen because of his intelligence, common sense, humility and the fact that Juggle appears to listen to him. Any other Presidential style would have a large sub-section of the site up in arms. If I was President I would destroy the site though elitism, others would let it run riot. Innomen represents a middle way that works, neither draconian nor anarchic and that is the only way things can work. Plus he does it all without ego trips.

See, I was reading about this. Apparently, the way to go about it is to seize control immediately. Make yourself out to be the prize.

Anyone got any crazy experiences? Whats the general concensus?:

Been married to a woman I met on Match.com 9 years ago... Of course, this was after I went through a truckload of meaningless sex and terrible dates.

Met Carlos on an AOL chatroom. That was 8 years ago. One day we were talking on the telephone after we had already met, and i got in my car drove to Philadelphia from Boston, picked him up, and we've been together since.

As for finding sex on the internet; as a friend of mine said, it's like ordering pizza if you're gay.

Well, I had an online relationship, and now an online friend with online benes. No luck offline. :p
It came to be at its height. It was commanded to command. It was a capital before its first stone was laid. It was a monument to the spirit of man.

What, that it's usually late, cold, not what you asked for and you regret it the next morning :P?

Yeah, that too - very often. They have Craigslist in Ireland too? - Pizza delivery.

We have something like Craiglist, but you cant get hitched on it. We do have an Escorts website where they charge at ~80 per 30 minutes. Bargain imo.

On further inspection there is in fact a Dublin one.

Lol, people blatantly lie in their profiles all the time.

As for sex - I know it's common to find it online, and I'm not sure if that's a good or bad thing.

Regarding relationships, I'm pretty sure I met the love of my life on DDO lol. So stick around because you never know what's in store for you here ;)

I know someone who uses these sites, and he was disappointed for awhile (months) with bad dates and bad sex. But he recently met someone and is sooo in love; I think they're a perfect match. I guess it's hit or miss just like the real world.

Okay, take DDO for example. By your online profile I already know your religious beliefs and political views; I know your favourite books, movies and TV shows. What do I know about you if I see you in a club? If you dress nice?

Hehe - we talked on the phone constantly for like 6 months and one day at around 3AM just decided, "fugg it - you drive east on I-80, I'll drive west, and we'll meet somewhere half-way." From NJ and Illinois we met at the half-way point on the Ohio/PA border... rented a hotel room, and have been inseparable ever since :)

Well, I was speaking more of physical attributes. People put up dated and flattering pictures to make themselves appear more attractive. They also lie about their height and weight. In terms of personality, I've never been on one of those sites personally but I know you have to put in things like traits and goals, etc. Someone could easily say they're easy-going, care free and intellectual but turn out to be a crazy b!tch. I get what you're saying, but there's pros and cons to meeting people both ways. Of course if someone is being honest it can't hurt. And I dunno if Vi will get mad at me for this but when we met she told me she was 23! I was 21 and I thought she was older than me, but really she was 19 lol. It wasn't until months later that I found out the truth! Because her ex spilled the beans :| Hahaha. There's one example though of maybe a "white lie" but there are more extreme examples. One girl I know talked on the phone with this guy for awhile who turned out to be a WOMAN! Stuff like that. Again though, I think people are being more open if they're serious about finding someone (of course Vi and I didn't have those intentions at all whatsoever when we started talking).
