"Drawing on the work of the late French philosophers Deleuze and Guattari, the objective of this paper is to demonstrate that the evidence-based movement in the health sciences is outrageously exclusionary and dangerously normative with regards to scientific knowledge. As such, we assert that the evidence-based movement in health sciences constitutes a good example of microfascism at play in the contemporary scientific arena."

This has to be a joke right?

It's true. Years ago, there used to be radical paradigm shifts, when new information was available. Now science just refines their new paradigms. More time is spent refining theories, than creTing or discovering new ones that explain the world better.

That is some of the most sophisticated trolling i've seen in a while. It's hilarious. I love it.

So, something of a successor to the Sokal affair? Great, exactly what we need.

Someone post this to Tumblr and let me know how many people seriously agree with it.

"Although it is associated with specific political systems, this fascism of the masses, as was practiced by Hitler and Mussolini, has today been replaced by a system of microfascisms -- polymorphous intolerances that are revealed in more subtle ways. Consequently, although the majority of the current manifestations of fascism are less brutal, they are nevertheless more pernicious."

What did I just read?
"Where justice is denied, where poverty is enforced, where ignorance prevails, and where any one class is made to feel that society is an organized conspiracy to oppress, rob and degrade them, neither persons nor property will be safe." - Frederick Douglass

"It is fair to assert that the critical intellectuals are at "war" with those who have no regards other than for an evidence-based logic. The war metaphor speaks to the "critical and theoretical revolt" that is needed to disrupt and resist the fascist order of scientific knowledge development."

"Of course, we do not wish to deny the material and objective existence of the world, but would suggest, rather, that our relation to the world and to others is always mediated,
never direct or wholly transparent."

That they have to clarify this is just sad.

"It is becoming increasingly evident that an unvarying, uniform language " an ossifying discourse " is being mandated in a number of faculties of health sciences where the dominant paradigm of EBHS has achieved hegemony."

Foucault would never say that.

It could be a joke. Why I say that is that if you read (or some of it) the paper it is actually readable and has some logic to it... I think it's a Sokal, but the authors couldn't quite pull it off and made it too sensible. It also seems odd to find a paper critical of evidence based science in 'Internation Journal of Evidence Based Health Care'.
